![]() Comparing Prices... Customer ReviewsReal enough... - By: Leeds lass, 11 Jan 2008![]() Some people seem to be disappointed, but my son - ex military - enjoyed it...... it helps - By: Justin King, 18 Apr 2006 ![]() like i said it helps, it's not the best review of the regiment, but it gives you the gist of the basic selection processes. SAS Selection - Don't Think So!!!! - By: , 14 Jan 2005 ![]() The programme although interesting to watch is an embarresment to all SAS soldiers who have gone through the actual rigours of SAS selection. A bunch of "elite" athletes who think they can go the distance, don't make me laugh! It was quite humourous to see some people cracking under the interrogation considering there was a camerain the corner of the room which would have been a constant reminder to the contestants that it simply was not real. However, the most astonishing thing about the programme is that the contestants actually believed they were tough enough for the SAS. To the customer who reviewed the programme as well, the SAS is actually 80% Scottish whereas you said the "brave English". Like someone else saidin a review the programme was simply Big Brotherin a military environment. Not quite there mate! - By: , 18 Mar 2004 ![]() Well, lets see... I suppose for someone with no knowledge of 'The Regiment' this series may prove somewhat informative as to what is generally required to go through some of the stages of SAS selection, but it is by no means a highly accurate portrayal of the selection process. It is lackingin both intensity & severity. To those of usin the forces this programme came off as somewhat of a joke, almost an insult. In short, it by no means does the selection process justice. But then I suppose it's all PR, the participant’s aren’t doing it to join up, they just want pat on the back, & many of them did a good job with what faced them, but it's just not the real thing. For a better look into the Regiment & soldiering, there was a TV series over Christmas (2003) on the SAS. It covered the basics of a SF patrol, much of which are general soldiering drills & skills that all foot sloggers use. This was by far the most thorough display of soldering I had ever seen on TV & would even go as far as to use it as an introduction training aid. Can't remember the name though! My work gets stressfull, but compared to these guys.... - By: LAURA COURT, 10 Mar 2004 ![]() You sometimes watch something, sit back & think, I could do that, well not this. Not what I saw you wouldn't. I always thought army life looked like a giggle, watching Robson Greene on Solidier Soldier, what a laugh. Then you watch this & appreciate its far from it. Its mentally & physically draining not to mention emotionally, & I was only watching! The programmes contestants are normal members of the public just training to see if they would pass the ultimate test of being an SAS soldier. Easy you think, just got to do a bit of running, shoot some targets & your in. No thats wrong. SAS, Englands top soldiers obviously would only consider a certain kind of person to go through all the training with. You'll see 26 start out, keen & eager to pass, you could count on your fingers the amount that actually get through to the final stages. The contestants go through some horrific ordeals, jus to see if they could cut it as an SAS soldier. Its one of them programmes you watch & think, WOW is this for real, nah its only a show, well its not. Its real, you see everything, blood, sweat, tears & fears. I've never had so much respect for armed forcesin my life, then I watched this. I now know why the SAS soldiers are Elite. They are truly heroes. They are the best.
