What is this? A center for ANTS? - By: M. Habisreutinger, 31 Jul 2008
This film is truly amazing. It may only appeal to people with a certain sense of humour, but I must be one of those people as I almost split my sides laughing. I was still randomly saying quotes from Zoolander about a month after I'd seen it!
As usual, Ben Stiller & Owen Wilson make a brilliant partnership; they have a similar sense of humour so you can see that they are really enjoying making the film.
This may not be the classic, thoughtful & deep film that some people want to see butin my eyes it is the best film I have ever seen, & would be perfect for a fun nightin or sleepover.
Stiller's best - By: Stampy, 06 Jul 2008
Ben Stiller (Meet the parents) stars as Derek Zoolander, a confident but stupid male model who loses his crown to Hansel (Wilson) & decides to take time off to search for something else, only fashion mastermind Mugatu (Ferrell) has his own plans for Derek.
This 2001 comedy directed by Stiller is sharp, funny & bizarre, a very good combination & one of the most delightful surprises of the noughties.
Having portrayed many weird yet wonderful charactersin his career, Stiller again dives deep into his best quality, that daft & humorous side that his fans love & he does soin such a way to make the film very enjoyable. Many performances of his have always been fairly repetitive, however with the type of jokes encoded & his direction does it come off & with the support, can we see a true energetic performance. The quality of direction is good, using a variety of shots & techniques to get the weird & wonderful messages across.
Successful support is given by Owen Wilson (Wedding crashers) & Will Ferrell (Blades of Glory) all comedians with a similar style & combining recognized comedy actors justifies the genre & gives a clear message to audience about the life of these characters.
Though the plot is predictable, daft & utterly a bizarre portrayal of what really happensin the fashion industry, you just have to sit back & enjoy it anyway. Too many films these days, particularly comedies, are made with no depth & hardly any funny jokes & predictable written underneath the title, for example The Heartbreak Kid. But sometimes they work, this script is sharp, & actually is funny with physical & other types of humour used to justify the needs of the viewing public, bring back this style of comedy.
There will be shaking of the head moments & turning to look at the wall when one of the clichés appear but for the most part, Zoolander is sharply written, a completely daft yet enjoyable comedy that does work & is perhaps the best performance by Stillerin his long & established career.
8/10

What's not to like? - By: Mr. M. Poole, 21 May 2008
This is a great fun family film. We watched it again last night & it is still hilarious.
Male supermodelsin this film are unrelentingly stupid, but they are also warm hearted & optimistic & that's more important.
Stiller & Wilson are on fine form with great support. David Bowie has a wonderful moment as a judge for a "walk off" - a secret, no holds barred, underground, "fight club" style catwalk battle between supermodels.
It's daft. It makes you laugh out loud & it makes you care about the characters.
No - it's not worthy. No - there's no social relevance. No - it's not realistic, gritty or depressing - but see it anyway!
One quote:
Matilda: (confessing) I became... Bulemic...
(Derek (Stiller) & Hansel (Wilson) both slowly register extreme shock & awe...)
Hansel: (slowly) You mean... you can read minds?
Ben Stiller at his best!! - By: Rachael Twinn, 10 Sep 2007
Late one night, when I thought there was nothing on, I flick round to E4 & hear they are going to start Zoolander. So I had nothing to loose!
We get to see the comic genius of Ben Stiller, at probably his best here, along with alot of familiar faces.
Ben plays a male model, Derek, who are lossing an award trys to see if there is more to life than being really good looking.
There isn't a bad performancein it & its bright, brash & sometimes strange humour will have you laughing all the way through!
I thought it was so good, that the next day, I came on here to buy a copy of my own. For £2.97 - it's a bargin!! Something you'll want to watch again & again!
