Its great fun but no Moulin Rouge - By: R Byrne, 16 Jun 2010
This movie really shines on Blu ray & until Baz Lurman releases the great Aussie Musical this fills the gap. Mrs. Douglas outclasses everyonein this tongue & cheek musical clearly showing off her Broadway heritage. The supporting cast are very entertaining & John C. Reilly does a fantastic job of "Mr. Cellophane" showing off his non-comedic performance. Would have given this 5 stars if not for Moulin Rouges truly original movie presentation.

Blue-Ray review - By: F. Patel, 11 May 2010
I'm not going to bang on about the plot as I presume most people who will purchase the Blue-Ray (BR)version will have already seen the film.
So what do you get for your money?
Well the picture quality is crystal clear, seeing as a lot of the film involves dark settings that is pretty good. However for some strange reason certain shots (usually of Roxie Hart) are prone to being somewhat grainy. However that little snippet is easily overlooked by the overall quality of this version which combined with the sublime sound quality makes for a most entertaining film.
Audio wise you can listen to English (5.1) French (5.1) & Spanish (2.1) the same three languages are offered as subtitles.
The obligatory deleted scene is the song 'Class' as well as a few options ported across from the DVD version.
I was most impressed with the quality of this BR,in fact for a film that is 8 years old it places much more recent filmsin the shade when it comes to showcasing just what Blue-Ray is capable of. (The song & dance routine on Roxie Harts first nightin prison springs to mind)
At £10 this film isn't going to break many bank balances & as such is a bargain that I believe everybody should havein their film collection.
...5 6 7 8...and all that jazz... - By: Alex da Silva, 09 May 2010
Roxie Hart (Renee Zellweger) is sent to prison for killing a man. She shares the prison with other women killers, including Velma Kelly (Catherine Zeta-Jones), a cabaret singer/dancer who Roxie admires. The two girls don't get on & both are relying on lawyer Billy Flynn (Richard Gere) to get them acquitted. If he fails, they will be hanged. The story is peppered with song & dance numbers.
It's an ok film with mediocre (instantly forgettable) songs & average (uninteresting) dance routines. The actors do well, especially Zeta-Jones as a baddie & Gere as a publicity-seeking lawyer. I found the best part of the film to be the beginning sequence & first song sung by Zeta-Jones - "And all that jazz". The film just levelled out after that with nothing particularly standing out. Considering it is a musical, I felt slightly let-down by the routines. Overall, the film is amusingin parts & it passes the time. I do have one question, though. It has nothing to do with the film, but is Richard Gere gay?
