Customer ReviewsThe beginning of an era. - By: J Stapelberg, 19 Apr 2010 I bought all five dvd-boxsets of this tv-show after being recommended by many friends & after seeing the rave reviews, I decided I would buy them (as I love most other HBO series) I had no idea what I was getting into but I'm glad I did. This show is one of the best things ever to grace our tv's- truly. This show has depths, it is packed with laughs & tears. After watching the amazing "American Beauty" I did some background research & found that it was written from the same producer (Alan Ball) that wrote for Six Feet Under & writes for "True Blood" after learning this, I immediately began watching. With superb performances from Michael C. Hall (Dexter), Rachael Griffiths (Brothers & Sisters) & Peter Krause (Dirty Sexy Money) this show is one of the few out there that are truly amazing- add this to your basket now- you won't be disappointed. Warning: Contains the odd, graphic sex scene, hard drug use, very strong language & nudity. This show is not rated 15, as indicated by Amazon, it is,in fact, 18, as does the box inform. I thought I would buy the first series & decide for myself. It is completely non-stop laughter, sadness & very sexy & all done so well. Totally absorbing, I could not stop watching it! & when I did I couldn't wait for the next episode. The acting is first-class & story lines are brilliant! Needless to say I bought the rest of the series allin one go. I will not go into the plot of the series as it has been done so many timesin previous reviews. All I will say is Just Watch IT!! You will NOT be disappointed! good show - By: sean paul mccann, 03 Mar 2008  When six feet under airedin 2001 it was so fresh & invigorating that it just swept me off my feet,it was a show that mixed dark humour with surreal comedy & a deep hurtful glance at the world,it had it all,in the following years it has lost some of its shine & appeal but not much,but i must whip out a fair review for all. Six feet under deals with the fisher family,they are funeral directors who deal with death & emotion & expression at every turn,but they hide their own while they help strangers deal with theirs. Each episode starts with a death & then we move on from there,we get the dead talking to members of the family &in truth this is a good tactic,it is sort of like their conscience talking to them,thats my opinion anyway,we also get surreal comedy much like that of the mind of J.Din scrubs & that makes for funny viewing,of course alot of what you view is tragic & a tear can take shape at any juncture if you are willing to suppress the fact that this is tv,andin many ways this is vital telly,it has a self belief of its own,there is a sense of pushing the envelope of pain too muchin places,the use of billy makes for annoying viewing at time & the screaming & weeping can bring you too your knees at times but this is what it is ,great stuff but not as magic as i once thought.
