![]() Comparing Prices... Customer ReviewsSurprisingly good and funny, highly recommend! - By: skunktrain, 25 Jun 2010![]() I first saw this series when it showed on the SciFi Channel (in the USA)in the early 2000s & I admit when it first aired, I thought, "Just another cheapo SciFi series" but I was wrong! This show is hilarious with great chemistry between the two main characters. And apparently the real-life chemistry between these two actors was so great that a lot of their scenes & lines were ad-libbed, & you get a feel for that sometimes when you watch the show. The premise is more than a bit far-fetched & goofy. Our hero, petty criminal Darien, gets a weird "gland" implanted that can make him invisible at will. (It was either get the experimental gland implanted or a long timein prison thanks to the "Three Strikes" law.) Then things go crazy & after a series of events, our hero ends up working for a government agency with continual budget problems, & he's paired up with a neurotic but fiercely loyal partner, Bobby. (Or "Bobby Hobbes," as Bobby often says.) The plotlines, & especially some of the technology & science fiction elements of the plots, barely hold up even to the most lax scrutiny, but who cares? This is too much fun to watch! Lots of funny situations & characters that you grow to really care about. My main regret is that there has never been a DVD release of the second season (series to youin the UK) of this show. And I still don't understand why the show was released on DVDin the UK but not (last I checked)in the USA. excellent show, not so great picture quality - By: Arvin, 19 Jul 2006 ![]() Great show. I'min the US, & they dont have it here, so I had to buy it from UK. Got mine from the marketplace, & the quality was ok. The actual dvd set is nice, came with a little Iman quicksilver tattoo. The picture quality is lacking though, perhaps not original films were transferred, but what are you going to do? Allin all, recommended for the Iman fan. the invisible man - By: , 11 Jan 2005 ![]() I thoght the season (BOX SET 1)was great & really entertaining.the first episode was good as was the second, but was hard to get into. After that Its great, and the action & acting is great & they take away that certain tacky-ness the show could have had without them. the box set 1 has 4 discs & it's pretty cheap. i am very much looking forward to watching the next part of the season. The best thing ever to happen to television! - By: , 23 Aug 2004 ![]() I was about to buy these DVDs when someone bought them for me. Thatin itself says a lot - no one ever knows what to buy me but on this occasion more than one person knew just what I wanted! A fan of a lot of popular Sci-fi & Fantasy based series, this one has quickly come to be my most loved collection of all. On The Invisible Man Darien Fawkes quotes at the beginning of every episode that after the operation he subjected himself to was a success, everything started to go wrong. The fact is things went disastrously wrong when the unconscionable decision was made to cancel this wonderful series that is quite simply a rare treatin television. The story concerning one petty thief inadvertently turned secret-agent, thrives on great comical play, primarily between its two main characters, Fawkes & Hobbes, yet supported by a great cast, any member of which would be sorely missed. Possibly suffering from previous, various attempts to bring it to television, the latest & best adaptation of The Invisible Man can all too easily be overlooked & dismissed ... by all but anyone who has seen & quickly come to love the show. Fans were not only surprised by the show's cancellation - they were devastated. I-man was taken well before its time, but don't let the fact that the show ran for only two seasons put you off buying it - quite the opposite! Only recently seenin the UK, many aren't even aware of this excellent programme. The two seasons of I-man that exists are precious & may be gone before we know it, yet fans are currently out there fighting for the show's resurrection & there are rumours of a possible movie. I can only advise everyone to seek out information about the show & snap up anything that comes available before it disappears - no pun intended! Matt Greenberg was the show's creator & executive producer & his concept often crosses genres. The effects are nicely used, never tacky. It's easy to label I-man the coolest show on television. The DVDs are nicely packaged & presented. They are worth owning for the episode notes, interviews & scripts (scripts provided as DVD-Rom content) alone, which give the viewer the additional insight of what a great programme this must have been to work on for all involved. In fact, if you need convincing to buy the DVDs, the chances are you've simply never seen the series. Trust me - you don't know what you're missing! The Invisible Man for the new millennium - By: K. Maxwell, 24 Mar 2003 ![]() I-Man as this show is known to its fans, is an imaginative & fun update on the old invisible man story. Darien is a thief with a talent for climbing tall buildings. An unfortunate turn of events ends with himin prison & with his brother offering his only chance to get out – as a human guinea pigin one of his experiments. Darien is understandably reluctant & his brother suitably vague about what he plans. Darien wakes up from his operation to find he has had a gland installedin his head. One that allows him to go invisible at will – but with a nasty, unexpected price tag attached. This box set contains the first half of the first season of this series. We are presented with a cast of misfits as Darien goes to work for “the Agency” the budget-priced government department which funded the gland experiment. His new boss is “the official” with his side-kick Eberts, Darien’s new partner is the paranoid Bobby Hobbes, & the “Keeper” isin charge of Darien’s gland & his health. The cast of this show is particularly well meshed. The repartee between Hobbes & Fawkes can be particularly funny & the ad-libbing which took place during filming lends a lot of these episodes a freshness that is rarein scripted drama today. The invisibility special effects of Darien’s quicksilver are also wonderful to watch. This box set has been put together for the fans of the show. It’s packed with extras. There’s a wonderful cast interview with Vincent Ventresca, Paul Ben-Victor & Mike McCafferty & its easy to see that the cast chemistry extended behind the scenes as well as what you see on TV. In addition to this there are also scripts & trivia facts for each episode. The episodes are presentedin full screen format & are cystal clear & uncut. Wonderful to see. If you love SF, mystery, spy stories or have a secret fascination with invisibility then this series is highly recommended on all accounts. It’s a gem that should not be missed.
