amazing! - By: the malaysian samurai, 06 Jan 2009
first thing's first... this film (from the view point of oscars) is pretty lame...
but as a film to actually WATCH.. IT IS INCREDIBLE!
one night my friend & i were bored so we decided to watch a "low budget" horror film... & these (sleepaway camp's 2 & 3) were on. & what a triumph they turned out to be!
as much as i like normal slashers i don't think they're quite as good as this.
i just LOVE a reason behind the killings, kids misbehaving.. it's great..
why does jason have to kill everyone he sees? (obviously this is a rethorical question) angela's punishing kids.. & let's be frank... those kids would seem like the most irritating people we'd ever meet ( i'm about the age those kids are... so when i say that... you know i'm telling the truth)
the only problem i have with these films.. is..
why was the first one so different?
completely different plot & character behaviour... mind you i'm not complaining... i disliked the first one anyway. but if it had been made like the other two then things would have been different

There's a mishmash of film genresin this boxset.
Most people expect a Friday the 13th ripoff, but are surprised to find that the first movie has a more psychological thriller slant to it.
My personal favourite is no.2, which combines gore, sociopathy & dark humour all into one. A great killer (icon) was born!
No.3 has a more melancholic feel to it & ends up as a typical slasher film; a real cash cow but still better than the first imo.
Included are plenty of extras & some Cuts that were deemed too violent for the mass public to view, which I'll be looking forward to.
humerous horrer - By: Mr. D. Gough, 24 Oct 2008
these films are similar to the early friday the 13th films but more humerous , to be honest my niece picked the dvds & i was expecting an abysmal offering but to my suprise we watched the 3 films the same day & to be honest i have seen far worst films & the triology cost £6.anybody who likes slightly wacky horrer films should get these pronto , there are plenty of slayingsin many different ways & nothings too graphic it sort of makes you visualise what happened next.
Ugh! - By: StormSworder, 24 Aug 2008
What with Halloween & Friday the 13th sequals making money, slasher films threatened to saturate the screenin the eighties. This one concerns a shy young girl who is sent to a camp where a series of brutal murders begin. It's pretty standard stuff really. Though the film has its moments, it mostly just relies on tried-and-trusted slasher material. It's not up to the standard of Halloween or Friday the 13th films either. The killings are unrealistic, some of the acting leaves a lot to be desired & the humour is pretty pathetic (ooh, he's going for a poo! Please stop, my aching sides!) The ending, with its 'twist', loses the whole film any kind of credibility it had. Ignore this mess & watch the two far superior sequals instead.

The Sleepaway Camp trilogy is one of the most overlooked horror franchisesin the history of cinema. The first film stars Felissa Rose as a troubled young girl with a mysterious past named Angela Baker, who arrives at summer camp with her cousin. However, things strange things begin to happen at camp & it becomes clear that Angela could be responsible. The truly shocking ending will have you gawping for hours afterwards. The second & third installmentsin the trilogy are much more tongue-in-cheek & star Pamela Springsteen - you guessed it, Bruce's sister - as the older Angela, freshly released from the mental hosptial where she has been incarcerated for years. Soon Angela is up to her old tricks again, this time directing her anger towards teenagers that she thinks deserve to be "punished". Springsteen plays the role for laughs & the effects are tremendous. A must have for any horror fan, this boxset from Anchor Bay is well worth the money & extremely entertaining!
