I was counting on other peoples reviewsin order to find something for my 2 year old. He was given a DVD of French songs & it has been HUGELY successful. Each song is a separate chapter so he can choose which one he wants to see & can watch the same one over & over & over again, until he knows the words & understands what is happening on the screen. I wanted the same thing with English songs & nursery rhymes which was why I bought this DVD. I needn't have bothered.
The songs are sung FAR too fast, so that even I had a hard time keeping up & it was just a blur for my son. In addition, they are not complete & everything just runs into each other so he cannot just watch whatever is interesting to him. We do not have a television & I don't believein plonking a child downin front of a DVD either while I do something else. Watching a DVD is an interactive business, something we do together so we can sing the songs together & discuss the images. That is not possible with this DVD. It is a lovely idea, & the graphics & images don't have to be well done for a child, but it must be at a childs pace.
Don't bother with this if you actually want your child to learn something.
Waste of money - By: S. Thomson, 11 Oct 2008 After reading the other reviews, I thought this would be perfect for my 22 month old, as she is totally into music & rhymes at the moment.
Unfortunately, when it arrived my daughter looked for a few minutes & just walked away. The songs/rhymes don't even get going as they only do one verse - not enough to really get excited about. 100 songs & Rhymesin 42 minutes is a lot to squeezein - sadly one tune blends into another & it's not very entertaining. Shame!

My 22 month old loves this DVD. The graphics are simple but good, & very brightly coloured. The singing is good, not to fast or slow. Also there are clips of real penguins & brown bears, & children riding horses which adds extra excitement when they come on. I can sit & watch with my son, & not wish its over! Im going for the full setin this particular type of dvd , I have two of them & have just ordered two more.

CROSBY, 09 Feb 2007 My daughter is 2 & I've really struggled to get hold of anything like this that just has the normal, unadulterated classic songs & nursery rhymes that we were all taught when small. Most I've previously found seem to be different versions of songs or have mad Australian accents or something else. This DVD is perfect. There is no talkingin between songs - utterly boring for the average 2 year old who won't yet sit long enough to follow a story - & the singing is bright, cheery & fun. Animated cartoons go along with most songs but there are regular interludes of 'real people' for others. My daughter loves the bit with real penguins, real animals & children riding real horses. Would highly recommend. It even keeps my 4 year old entertained for a time.
