So romantic - By: Victoria, 17 Dec 2008
I loved this movie. There is a depth to it that I did not expect at all. It is not about the brain damage either, but, about documenting a relationship that is built of stronger stuff than your average glossy Hollywood superficial sham.
There is a great deal of funin the movie, laughs & Adam Sandler is great. Drew Barrymore is a bit sickly sweet for my tastesin some of the movie, but the thing that moved me was the effort that wentin to the relationshipin terms of Sandler actually working with imperfections. He worked hard to facilitate great challenges, & could not walk away. It is refreshing to see a relationship depicted as one that responds to challenges successfully rather than the usual size 0 barbie meets "perfect" man. LOVE IT.
I GOOD ROMANTIC COMEDY - By: stuart, 14 Dec 2008
This is one of the movies which holds you on to your seats right from the start till the end.Adam Sander is a nice decent guy (forget the first five minutes).Rob Schneider as 'Ula' is hilarious.Drew Barrymore, like always is cute & sweet.

The movie starts off with the comments of the girls Sander has dated for a day or so because he tries to stay away from commitments. Then he meets Barrymore at a restaurant & we see a real changein him.Barrymore suffers from short-term memory & forgets everything the next day.the girl's dad & brother do everything to make her feel normal. most of the times she lives the same day everyday! Sander tries to meet her daily with the hope that he can lastin her short-term memory & he has to start off afresh everyday.this is where the movie got its name (cos all the dates were their first).

the movie's ending is really unpredictable & touching & you are going to love the way it happens. Barrymore finally ends up with the guy who made her fallin love everyday. the movie has a gentle flowin it & most of the scenes have really good Hawaiian & tropical musicin the background which makes it all the more romantic. The director has used locationsin Hawaii & Oahu really well to add to the effect. A must watch movie with subtle comedy & a good feel.
Might Bring A Tear To Your Eye - By: M. B. Richardson, 29 Aug 2007
Not being a great fan of Adam Sandler - i was very apprehensive about watching this DVD - what a surprise , not a lugh out loud comedy , but a very well thought out light hearted romantic drama very muchin the genre of the beautiful Alec Baldwin film "Prelude to a Kiss" . Gentle , understanding & warm . You'll love this one - it will captivate you the further you watch it .
Fifty out of 50 - By: Jay, 10 May 2007
The basic storyline of 50 First Dates: Henry Roth livesin Hawaii & spend his time wooing women who are visiting the island, simply because there is little chance of commitment. Then he meets Lucy Whitmore. One day they hit it off, & the next she doesn't even recognize him. It turns out that she suffers from short-term memory loss, & every day he tries to win her over once more. Firstly, I have to say that 50 First Dates is a really funny film. It isn't overly stupid, but it's not subtle either. But underneath the humour is where I believe this film's true beauty lies. It shows lovein a way that I have never seenin another film before. From the way that her family sacrifices everything to keep her happy, & blissfully unaware of her condition, to Henry who, despite the fact that he could have just about any woman that he wanted, decides that he wants to be with Lucy, regardless of the fact that he has to meet her for the first time every day. Henry's character undergoes somewhat of a transformationin front of our eyes. The film starts off with him coming across as somewhat of a pig , & by the end of the film, we truly admire him. He even sacrifices his dream so that he can be with Lucy, & help her to move on with her life. The film isn't really predictable, either. For example, I spent the entire films assuming that the ending would be somewhat different. Although romcoms almost always have happy endings, this one damn near had mein tears. And it wasn't even sad. I never knew what a feel-good film was until I saw this...highly recommended.
One of the best comedy/romance movies! - By: crazykat, 09 Apr 2007
I went to see this at the movies with my mom,in 2004. I was highly tempted to buy the DVD as soon as it came out! I loved every minute of this film & the acting was just brilliant! Most of all the storyline, about a woman (barrymore) & a man (sandler) whom oneday metin a diner. Just the typical love at first site thing where the pair begin talking & click straight away happenes between both these peoplein this film. But when he begins talking to her the next day he bumps into her at the diner place again, she doesnt remember him due to her short term memory loss. This is where the story kicks off! there are some laughs time to time, especially the parts where she goes overboard because she never remembers him but he isin love with her.
Brilliant!
