Excellent - By: Matty, 03 Apr 2008
Season 4 of The West Wing is incredibly good. The writing is as sharp as ever & the characters are as likeable as ever. This season saw the departure of Rob Lowe but this did not harm the showin any way. There are some great cameosin this one notably from Matthew Perry & Christian Slater. The last few episodes are as good as anything you'll seein any TV show. Brilliantly written & perfectly acted, season 4 is a must see.
Still just as good - By: M. Massey, 11 Jan 2008
This season picks up where the others left off & is just as good & comes just as highly recommended. Theres not a lot to say that others haven't already said, except that the speech givenin 20 hoursin america part 2 about the college bombings is probably one of the best written things I've ever heard.
Damn, This Is Good... - By: Kalah, 12 Mar 2007
As the re-election campaign draws to a close we get several examples of why this staff managed to get him the seatin the first place, & why Bartlet himself managed to beat his republican opponents once; & why he can do it again. His oratory skill is one of the primary reasons Sheen was cast for the series, & why Bartlet was elected the first time. This time, however, the guys find themselves unable to run the campaign they've always wanted to run. New temporary staff is draftedin to help teach them all "not to bother anybody" as a result of the president's MS blunder, & yetin the end Bartlet will be Bartlet.
Two Emmy awards this season; it's been going downhill from the start - from nine to eight to five to... two. That doesn't mean it's not as good as the others, the second season is better than the first, & this one is just as good as the third. The cast is still the same & they get better & better - the show just doesn't live up to the earlier seasons because of the plot. Too much of it is the sort of stuff we've seen before. The political battles... it's still just as well-made, it's just that we've seen it before. The continuation bit is the campaign, the character relationships & the romantic interests.
This is the last season with Sorkin as the writer, & he leaves with a bang. The ending is a real piece of work, a fantastic cliffhanger that leaves your heart pounding... & gets you to order the continuation before you can say "twenty-five".
The best yet? - By: I. Burgess, 26 Feb 2007
The first three episodes of series four announce what a corker this series will be. Getting left behind by the presidential motorcade was just wonderful & highly addictive.
I agree that Leo has taken over as the main player which has its limitations but I find it impossible to watch just one episode. Two at least at a sitting, brilliant!
Missing extras - go for zone 1 version instead - By: , 22 Mar 2006
I would give this a higher rating, but I just want to warn Zone 2 buyers about the lack of special features - no commentaries, no featurettes, nothing. The Zone 1 version does have extras, so I would recommend avoiding this version if at all possible.
