Magical, enchanting animation that gets you into the Christmas spirit! - By: Bebe Belisma, 12 Oct 2008
After watching Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas(which I thoroughly enjoyed),I decided to also buy it's sequel(being a lover of all things Christmas & Disney).
It was only when I bought it,I realised it was computer animated...
(This was also the first time the Disney characters were seenin 3D animation).
'Oh here we go'...I thought to myself.
I usually find that when Disney uses computer animation(apart from Pixar, which is obviously brilliant),it takes the charm out,so I really dreaded seeing how awful this was probably going to be.
But...I was pleasantly surprised!
I actually thought that the computer animation added to it's appeal & made Huey, Dewey & Louie look even cuter than usual!
The short 'films' included are:
"Belles on Ice"
"Christmas: Impossible"
"Christmas Maximus"
"Donald's Gift"
"Mickey's Dog-Gone Christmas"
If you are looking for a sweet, family,Christmas 'movie' then I would definitely suggest this as it is just as good,if not better than the first 'Upon A Christmas'.
It really gets you into the festive spirit, and for me Christmas just wouldn't be complete without it.
Fantastic - By: M. Bristo, 07 Jan 2008
We have a big collection of Christmas films for the kids to watch but this is our favourite! It captures everything that is great about the season with fantastic graphics & funny animations.
If you buy any Christmas film, make sure it's this one.
mickey goes 3d - By: Mr. S. gilbert, 30 Jan 2005
just bought this dvd, i teach 3d animation & was keen to see how disney handeled the transition of a a traditional 2d character such as mickey mouse & pluto into the 3d form.
the look of the film is very pleasing & the 3d versions of such historic 2d characters has been done with great care..none of the essence of mickey or his friends has been lost when moving into the 3d realm...
the stories are on the whole pretty good but the last story about pluto running away was by far the most entertaining of the 5 stories with some neat gags & great timing.
i'm looking forward to seeing more 2d disney characters from the huge backcatalogue moved over to 3d...both blur studio & sparks studio who handeled all the 3d modeling animation & rendering should be commended on such a resonsible job bringing the 2d cel shaded toons into a 3d world that still has the disney look about it...none of the "looks like a computer game"
here...this dvd stacks up very well when put next to pixar's films such as toy story or shrek.
Well Worth Watching - By: , 16 Dec 2004
I purchased this primarily as it was Christmas Themed, not because my children particularly liked Mickey Mouse & Friends. Both of my children aged 4 & 6 have enjoyed watching this DVD & it has even been know to be watched twice on the same day. Yes, it is computer generated but then most things are these days & I don't believe that this makes the DVD any more disappointing to watch, if anything I would say it almost makes the DVD as it is good to see Mickey Mousein a different format. It has a happy Christmas theme which obviously my children liked & I think this was probably the reason it was such a hit.
Fantastic family entertainment - By: Mr. C. Broughton, 30 Nov 2004
I bought this DVD for my little girl as she loves Mickey & friends, It appealed as it is classic family entertainment that delivers some great messages about the importance of family & friends especially at Christmas time.
I haven't been disappointed, my little girl loves the film & she even understands the messages which at 3 years old, I don't think I could have explained it to her & achieved the same result.
I feel the 3D format is just moving with the times as it reflects other recently released Disney films, my little girl can relate to it more - Mickey & his friends are still and
will always be fantastic family entertainment - well worth the money.
