models included - By: Susan Belcher, 06 Jan 2009
This is an outstanding set that as a fan of the Thunderbirds series (THUNDERBIRDS - Complete collection of 32 episodes incl extras - dig. remastered - 8 disc DVD Box set) I knew I couldn't be without.

It includes:

- Thunderbird One - the silver & blue rocket, which has a firing nose cone (pressed the button on the top to fire it).

- Thunderbird Two - the colossal green workhorse of the Thunderbirds machines, which carries all of the equipment that International Rescue may require for rescues. Press a hidden button on the top of his model & the yellow rescue platform is lowered from the underneath of this Thunderbird.

- Thunderbird Three - the red space rocket, used to take resources to the space station.

- Thunderbird Four - the yellow mini sub.

- Thunderbird Five - the wonderful space station that is the eyes & ears of International Rescue. This space station has docking facilities for Thunderbird Three (a docking platform on TB5 slots into the side of TB3).

These models were made by the company Bandaiin China. This was one of the companies which,in 2008, was forced to withdraw toys from the shop shelves after it was discovered that there were high levels of poisonsin the paints & other colourings that they had used.

There is also a "special Tracy Island map" - which is a massive let down. It is simply a piece of green with lines drawn on it. Sadly lackingin any detail, or images of the buildings or photographs of the vehicles or Tracy family, this could have been so much more.

At least the makers of this box set resisted the urge to include that monstrosity that replaced Lady Penelope's iconic pink Rolls Royce.

I bought one when the film was first released, well about 9 months after the release when it wasin the sales, mainly for the models.

Please note that the box itself is flimsy & prone to bending & creasing, so extra care needs to be taken when handling it.

The dvd is the same as usual, & includes the same stickers sheets, the same picture wheel, the same leaflet & the same film & extras.

Absolutely dire! - By: Roymatt, 11 Jan 2008
Sorry, but this movie destroyed a classic!
It's spy-kidsin space!
This movie could have been the beginning of a very successful movie series like Star Wars or Star trek. Why aim it exclusively at 6 year olds?
The fact that you can now pick up the DVD for £1in bargain bins anywhere says it all.
The actors were mis-cast, (except Ben Kingsley who was excellent as the hood) FAB 1 was a FORD!!!!, the Thunderbirds craft were ok, but had none of the original 'style' of the TV craft. I mean, TB2 is a world famous icon now. Why mess with it???
The SFX were APPALLING!!!
I've seen beter computer graphics on old Amstrad games!
And worst of all, the story was RUBBISH!
There wasn't actually any 'real' rescuein the movie that needed International Rescue!
Even if you find this DVD at £1, which is easy, DON'T BUY IT!
If it were possible to give this movie '0' stars, I would.
Its Not what it was. - By: Bennett, 25 Aug 2006
I remember Thunderbirds as it was. With the strings. Slightly bad as it have been, it was still an integeral part of my childhood. This film almost destroys everything that Gerry Anderson builtin the 32 episodes & two movies he made. Tin Tin & Alan are fine being young, but wherein the hell did Brains' son come from?!?

The thunderbirds are dissapointingly different, with Thunderbird Three being the closest to the original. On Thunderbird Five, the docking mechanism is completley different. People may say the reason for these differences was so that it would fitin with modern times, but the Thunderbirds themselves are works of fiction. If its supposed to fitin with modern technology, why is there a monorail across the thames?

Call me a penickety old person, but I was almost ashamed at timesin this movie.

Yet again, Hollywood have ruined my childhood.....
Great for kids - By: Mr. Andrew Moore, 09 Jul 2005
My son loves it, I wanted the original puppet series!
Good escapist nonesense for the young & the toys are great to re enact the film. If your 30 plus though, get the original series instead!
5.. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1.. THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO! - By: , 07 Jan 2005
It the best SFX movie. Don't let new looking crafts & FAB 1 put you off, or the fact that it's aim at younger people. Don't put it down, it's still Thunderbirds, but instead of the old tv series trying to be setin the future, the movie is setin todays world. This movie is F A B! Everyone love this film. Action all the way with 5 4 3 2 1 Thunderbirds are go!
