Fantastic workout & great value for money! - By: Mrs. SL Gilbert, 29 May 2008
Great value for money but do be warned that 2 of the 4 DVDs are actually the the SAME DVD just with a different title! (I thought this must be some mistake until I read another review saying the same thing!)
I found Billy Blanks very motivating & despite the duplicate workouts, there is still enough varietyin this boxset to get you started & I would still recommend it. I found it fast paced enough to hold my attention but still informative with easy to follow instructions with a fantastic workout. I have tried many other workout DVDs & Billy Blanks' TaeBo is by far the best.
Great all over body workout - By: B. Sutcliffe, 23 Apr 2008
I had been using the Davina 'Power of 3' workout for several months, & had enjoyed it, but had got to the point with my fitness where I wasn't really getting as much out of it as I had been before, plus I fancied a change.
The reviews for this DVD bundle looked good, & I'd done Tae Boin the past & enjoyed it. I've now been using this DVD for about a week & I'm really enjoying it. I like to do a 30 minute session first thingin the morning before I go to work, & having the choice of 3 different 30 minute workouts really appeals to me. So far I have tried the Abs & Glutes & the Get Ripped DVD. Abs & Glutes is the harder of the two, but you really know it is doing you the world of good.
Allin all I would recommend this DVD set. Yes, it's a shame that one of the DVDs is a repeat of the other, but 3 fitness DVDs that will work you hard for under £10 is still a bargain.
Get ready to SWEAT - By: Ms. A. J. S. Milne, 13 Mar 2008
As a 42 year old woman who has gone to the gym for over 25 yearsin London, I recently moved to a very rural area where a gym is not accessible at all.
I have had every fitness video / DVD going from Callantics to Cher to Lynne Robinson so needed a complete change. This was a great price, 4 DVD's for the money & therefore didn't have an awful lot to lose.
Billy Blanks is really amazing. He has a great persona on screen & is so utterly & wonderfully entertaining, positive, motivating & extremely fit.
There is a great instructional part which I would recommend everyone to do because you can really hurt yourself if you take your eye off the ball &in this part, he takes it right back to basics telling you how to start off, keeping it safein order not to hurt yourself & what your body should be getting out of the workouts. Definitely look at this part before you do anything.
I disagree with some of the other reviews who say these are low impact. You need quite a lot of room & you do jumping about & not standing on one position with two feet on the ground at all times.
I have only gone through one DVD right now which has plenty to get through, but as we have 4 (even if parts are duplicated) there is so much that you will be kept occupied for a very long time, & even if you are super fit, I defy anyone who doesn't get a great workout from any of these DVD's.
Why give a 4-star rating?? The annoying Americanism of whooping, yelling, shouting, hi-fives, while all the time Billy is giving great motivating words straight to the camera. Most annoying.
However, if you are used to going to Boot Camp or boxing type workouts, you will get as good a workout right at home & can work out as long / short as you need to, when you need to.
You will definitely shape up & lose weight with this DVD & I wasn't particularly very good to start off with, but with practice, can anticipate picking this up quite quickly.
Check out the 65+ year old womanin the ADVANCED class! Amazing.
Fantastic but... - By: C. Childs, 02 Mar 2008
Energise & Active are basically the same DVD. Incuding them both is the most pointless thing I've ever come acrossin my entire life (well, kind of). For this reason alone I give it 4 stars.
BUT! I have exercised on & off for about five years, & have mainly gone through phases before stopping because I find exercising so boring. Tae Bo is the first exercise I've ever really enjoyed & I actually look forward to. It doesn't feel like you have been working out for an hour. I am getting great results too, especially on my thighs. I have also lost a few pounds, even without making too much of an effort to clean up my diet.
The abs & glutes DVD is way too challenging for a novice like me though! But there is a lot of floor workin the Energise/Active DVD so I'm working on my abs too.
Get Ripped is my favourite, usually to work that hard I have to go out jogging. Sweating that much makes me feel like I've really done some work!
Bily Blanks is my hero!
Love it!!! - By: atay1, 12 Feb 2008
After reading reviews & people referring to Tae Bo i thought i'd buy a dvd & give it a go....and i wasnt disappointed :)
i've tried 3 outta the 4 dvdsin this boxset & they are all really good...although my favourite is 'get ripped' i was really sweating after it!!!....it does take a little while to get the moves but thats cos he talks about 'his' left & right hence slightly confusing to begin with particularly when they speed the moves up but you'll pick them up quite easily. The instructional sections do show you how to do the moves properly which is good to get the max benefit & I like the way Billy refers at times during the workouts to where you should be feeling the 'burn' so then you know you are doing it right! Its an excellent all over body workout, it works & above all else its fun...i genuinely look forward to exercisingin the mornings :)
If you havent tried Tae Bo, you should!!!!
