![]() Comparing Prices... Customer ReviewsI so wanted to like it; but I couldn't. - By: C. L. Foster, 07 Aug 2008![]() Unfortunately, this is miles away from being as good as the books or the first film. They changed the plot so they could shoe-horn Hugh Grant into the film (and a not very good fight scene with Colin Firth as well). But so much worse is the sense that Bridget has been made into a figure of fun, rather than someone who was funny because we related to her. Not funny, not romantic, even Colin Firth is less lovelyin this film. So-so Sequel to a Fantastic Movie - By: Helena, 22 May 2008 ![]() The sequel to Bridget Jone's Diary was pretty average. Close to disappointing; could have been better. It got a really annoyingin the middle, especially the chapter when Renee & Hugh's characters werein Thailand. I didn't particular enjoy the part where "Bridget" (Renee) was "teaching" other Thai women to sing english songin the Thai prison. Come on! I find the scene to be annoying & condescending. Colin Firth looked like he didn't want to bein the movie! His acting was quite wooden, & he looked constipated & sour most of the time. Hugh Grant is his usual annoying-self. Renee looks great being Bridget, a plus-size version of herself, but after a while, her performance was wearing thin too. I just hope they don't do another Bridget Jones sequel. Ker-ching! - By: Cakeman, 05 Feb 2008 ![]() Vapid follow up to cashin on the amusing hit BJ's Diary. Renee's character has completely lost her charm & yet is improbably pursued by her two handsome leading men. At some point you start to think this as unlikely as a Mr Bean movie where he's having to fight off Cameron Diaz & Julia Roberts. Less rom-com more rom-con. Pleasant-enough sequel to "Bridget Jones's Diary" - By: Jay, 05 May 2007 ![]() Pleasant-enough sequel to "Bridget Jones's Diary" has Renee Zellweger completely at easein her return to role as chipper go-getter Bridget Jones. Here she's still being bothered by egocentric jerk Hugh Grant while tremulous over relationship with Colin Firth. The presentation is colorful & yet just a bit heavy, with some scenes going on too long & several encumbered by an effects-enhanced prettiness which occasionally seems like overreaching. Grant,in what is essentially a cameo, is annoying & gratuitous, but Renee is quite fun to watch, & the movie has a few funny tricks up its sleeve. The constant degrading of Bridget, however, is a running joke that doesn't always work, but the finale is certainly worth a smile A disappointment.... - By: Fay du logis (sweet sixteen), 14 Apr 2007 ![]() The adaptation of the Edge of Reason was not good enough for me. As mentionned by some, it is poor romantic comedy. I liked the first one: Bridget Jone's Diary (book & film) but I thought the second one was too much (film). You just feel it is more commercial than anything else & not very imaginative. It's just a reheating of the first one, (nearly) a bad copy. Especially with the parachuting (firestation equivalent). And the best bits of the book were left out. You only see the "unfunny" ones. Helen Fielding deserves better, I think. Stick with Bridget Jone's diary (first one) which is good. And buy the book of The Edge of Reason (far better)
