I think this DVD is brilliant! Having just started learning bellydance, I felt I needed something to help me practise between classes, & I'm just one of those people who needs to be told to do X move Y tmes- otherwise I'll do so much then think "Oh that'll do!" & wander off for a coffee & a biccy! I swear the woman knows just when I'm starting to slump...
So, how does a complete beginner work with this? Well, Jillina starts off with the basic moves & breaks each one down. I faltered a bit here- yes, she doesn't spend an age on each one, but once I'd got used to wiggling with the remotein one hand to rewind until I'd got it, all was well. I also felt that this actually helped once I'd got the hang of each move- quick revise & on to the next one. Same with the combinations- at first I was rewinding & going over each one several times, three weeks later I'm getting through quite happily, & making a start with the choreography. This is also well put together- each combination is revised, added to the next, & each practise session starts from the beginning of the dance, ie combination 1, then 1 &2, 1,2 &3, so that the more absent-minded like me don't get to the end & find they've forgotten the start!
This DVD is absolutely perfect for the way I like to learn new material -I'm a professional musician, so I've treated the dance like learning a new piece of music. Small sections, slowly added together, then getting a little further each time. To get the most out of this, it isn't one to be run through from start to finish, I've focussed on one move or combination at a time & tried to get a little further, so I feel I really know the moves now & would be quite happy improvising on them.
Expect to find yourself frustrated looking for the track to dance to though...it took me ages to track it down!

I actually quite like this video. The moves are broken down precisely, & the choreography is beautiful. Whenever I get lost, I just stop & rewind. I think no instructional video can be perfect, & neither is this one, but allin all, its a very good one, & I'd recommend it for sure.

I was a little let down with this. I started off with Bellydance core conditioning with neena & veena & this is a great DVD (see my review) I then thought there must be some other moves to learn & why not get two DVD's so i don't get bored of doing just one same old thing week after week. And after reading the review on here it seemed good. I got it & even Jillina admits at the start the warm she does isn't a proper one which worried me as your supposed to warm up properly & the stretchs where really quick unlike neena & veenas. She then got straight into the differnt moves which she teachs really quick (again unlike neena & veena) then straight into the routines. The routines are great & i enjoyed learning them, but i feel like i need to warm up with my other DVD (neena & veena) & then switch DVD's to this one & do some routines & then warmdown with neena & veena. So thats rather annoying. But if you just want to learn some cool routines this is a great DVD to do that to & i'm getting alot of ideas from it & again its really inspiring to watch her perform. But if you want to learn some basic moves etc i'd go for neena & veena then if you want to learn some routines then go with this one.

A fabulous dvd!I have wanted to learn bellydance & Jillina is a great teacher. She teaches you step by step from the very basics,showing you how to perform all the individual moves progressing to combinations of these moves & when you're skilled enough (which unfortunately I'm not yet!) She puts it all together & you have a fully choreographed bellydance performance!! Music throughout is also very good. Plus watching Jillina perform to an audience at the end is inspiring! I'm going to buy level 2 straight away!
