Blade Trinity-Blade Trash - By: Simon Bugler, 09 Sep 2008
Do I love horror movies? Yes -Do I love vampire movies? Yes -Do I love Blade movies? Yes -Do I hate this movie? Yes .This third Blade movie is nothing but empty headed trash-all special effects & nothing else-the actorsin it should hang there headsin shame-it tells you everything you need to know about why horror moviesin the 21st Century have lost their way- avoid at all costs!
Just a Poor Film - By: Mr. Gwyn Edwards, 05 Jun 2008
What can I say to add to the other reviews. I watched this for the first time last night & I now feel that I have wasted two hours of my life. I could have spent the time more profitably indexing my train spotter records.

Ridiculous plot (even for a vampire film), more holesin it than a shelf full of Polo mints & the climax....oh dear. Mediocre acting & a ludicrous attempt by the director to make the film look cool.

What a shame given that the other two films were actually pretty good.
Bloody awful! - By: W.T.A, 07 Dec 2007
I quite enjoyed the first two Blade movies, but was hesitant about watching this one as I had heard some bad things about it. I was pleasantly surprised then to find that 20 minutes into the film it was actually half decent. And then it all went horribly wrong with the introduction of Hannibal King, played by the woefully unfunny Ryan Reynolds. His performancein this film is possibly one of the worst I have ever seen. I cannot put into words just how annoying unfunny this character was. I have never sat so stony faced whilst watching a "comedic" performance. Apparently he came up with a lot of the one-liners himself- something that he seems quite proud to boast about. I would be embarassed to admit having anything to do with this God-awful, turgid film. Rarely has a film been so bad that I have gone online shortly after watching it to see whether it made any of the worst films ever lists. Somehow it didn't, though it has been rightfully torn to shreds on the internet by a hell of a lot of people. Blade is reduced to being a bit-part playerin his own movie, which is unfortunate as he is by far the best thing about these films. The times when he actually does have something to do the film livens up...slightly. There is a linein Blade 2 when Wesley is asked "Can you blush?" Here we find out that he indeed can, as he winces & cringes his way through this whole sorry mess. No wonder he didn't do a press junket for this movie, & his absense from the extras on the DVD is telling indeed as he did a commentary for both of the first two films.
Jessica Biel is half decentin the movie & does her best with a bog-standard one dimensional character. According to Ryan Reynolds she has the best introduction everin this film as she disguises herself as a frightened woman with a babein arms before disposing of some teen vampires. She would have done better to have remain disguised throughout to save her some embarrassment. Oh, & her introduction really isn't the best ever- merely predictable.
The main bad guy is Dracula (Drake) played by the terrible Dominic Purcell, who has come back to rule the Earth. His sidekick, Parker Posey gives one of the worst performances I have ever seen.
To summise: This film is BAD! Some movies are so bad that they are good- this isn't even that. This is just utter tripe. On the commentary for Blade 2 Wesley talks about all the things that he didn't like about that movie & all the cool things that they should do on this one. David S. Goyer takes his tongue out of Wesley's behind long enough to agree with him. And so here you have all the things that they discussed- & they are all terrible ideas that have been poorly executed. David S. Goyer has shown himself not only to be a terrible director, but a pretty poor judge of his own scripts. He really does need to be surrounded by more talented peoplein order to come up with something decent.
As for the extras: Quite interesting actually. I loved hearing all the cast & crew talking about this like it was the greatest movie of all time, about how they had raised the bar & that this full of wonderful performances & action. How wrong they were. I laughed more at the extras than the film itself. So many blinkered, self important, back-slapping people all congratulating themselves on a job well done. The incredibly smug & unfunny Ryan Reynolds nearly splits his own sides as he recalls just how funny he was during the making of this piece of crap. And as for David S. Goyer interviewing...erm, David S. Goyer- well, that just has to be seen to be believed.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
I LIKED IT BUT IT FELT TACKED ON TO MAKE A TRILOGY - By: stuart, 08 Aug 2007
I suppose the first word I should usein when describing Blade Trinity is: uneven. That is how I perceived the film. Some scenes were decent & some scenes were just downright pieces of trash. I didn't see the filmin the cinema as the trailer looked disappointing & instead I decided to wait for the DVD so I could see if the film was as bad as the rating. It was. If you love Blade Trinity you should probably stop reading now because the following review is not an all together positive one.

Guillermo del Toro didn't return as director for this film because he wanted to do Hellboy (another not all together satisfying film) which he described as his dream project & so the writer David S. Goyer, who wrote the previous two films, was given the job. Now I pose a question, what happens when you get a mediocre writer to direct a film he wrote himself? You of course get mediocre entertainment. Wesley Snipes does his best to keep the title character of Blade alive but he has the same problem asin Blade II. He doesn't bring anything new to the character. His performance is basically a rerun of his performancesin the previous films & the character is just not interesting enough to keep the film afloat. That & Snipes isn't as thin asin the previous films (notice there are no scenes with him showing off his bare chestin this film). Maybe Snipes haven't been doing his sit-upsin between this film & Blade II because Blade is getting just a little fat. Kris Kristofferson returns brieflyin his character as well but he doesn't exactly bring anything much to the film either. Dominic Purcell plays the villain, Drake (a modernized Dracula), & he is woolly at best. His performance isn't downright bad but it leans toward it. His sense of timing & overall line delivery is quite bad. Jessica Biel was brought on the project obviously as eye candy & she serves her purpose beautifully because she is just gorgeous. Other than that, however, she, like all other leading ladiesin the Blade series, doesn't contribute much acting wise. Ryan Reynolds is the only saving grace acting wise. His comic timing is impeccable & I must admit I did laugh out loud because of him quite a few times. He is nothing more than a sidekick, however, & he doesn't get too much screen time.

The effects aren't spectacular but at least there are no unbelievable CG sequences likein Blade II & the vampire dustings are still pretty to look at. Other than that, however, I felt that the pace had been taken down quite a bit from the action packed Blade II. There was much more sitting around doing close to nothing. This is a problem as the overall plot is about as lacking asin Blade II. This makes the film seem longer than it is & that is a pretty serious problem as the paper thin story cannot sustain itself. Suffice to say the pacing is bad. The sound/music is the worst of the series & unlikein the previous films (especially the first) the music doesn't leave a lasting impression. You've basically forgotten it as soon as you stop watching the movie.

The film's most major problem is the fact that Drake is seriously un-menacing. He never seems to pose a threat to Blade making their confrontation (which is quite poorly choreographed) seem dull & anticlimactic. The action sequences leading up to their confrontation are much better. Another thing that puzzled me was the fact thatin their first confrontation Drake felt that for Blade to "show him what he's made off" meant running through the street completely without purpose. I mean, what the heck is that. Not all the action sucks though & Blade has a few new gadgets that are pretty cool.

Overall Blade Trinity is about as polished as Viggo Mortensen's chinin the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The production seems rushed & the poor villain does that Blade Trinity stands as a shining example of how third films can be hugely disappointing.

I liked it! - By: Milly Moll, 23 Mar 2007
I have all the Blade films, & contrary to everyone else's opinion, I actually liked this one best of all. Maybe it's because I prefer a bit of humourin my films who knows. I also loved the soundtracks to all the fight scenes.

I find sometimes that sequels can get a bit boring if you keep putting the same main characterin the same situation over & over again. I thought that bringingin two extra hero's actually gave it a new dimension, I don't think it detracted from Wesley at all, it was nice to see the interplay between all the main characters.

At the end of the day I found it to be excellent entertainment; it was faced paced, humorous, & had some superb fight scenes & CGIin it. Plus, anything with a half naked Ryan Reynoldsin get five starsin my book.
