Remastered Beyond Its Original Brilliance, Bundled with a Mixed Bag of Extras - By: chatvarin, 05 Jun 2008 
I think most people have seen the film & already know whether they like it or not when considering buying this DVD. So I'll talk specifically about this DVD.
The film has been restored beyond its original brilliance. If you pay close attention, particularly at a still-frame, you will realize that what Disney means by this is that they didn;t really restore it but just went ahead & rapaint every single frame digitally. SO certainly the feel has nothing of the warmth & life of the hand-coloured original. Luckily, the studio seems to have taken quite great care with this & so the recolouring is not too obtrusive, only becoming helplessly intrusivein certain scenes. For the most part, the brightness manages to enhance the sparkle of this classics. The soundtrack has been excellently remastered & "Cinderella" is one of the select elitesin the pantheon to have received a Disney Home Theatre Mix enhancement of the original mono soundtrack, which would play like the most recent soundtrack recorded on the most sophistictaed sound sytem. That both the remastered mono & this enhnaced mix are offered gives the choice of whether you want the film to bring nostalgia or just sparkle.
The extras do feel somewhat lacking for a special edition of such a revered masterpiece, but do comprise a good range of materials to cater for the whole family - just as a piece of Disney entertainment should do. It is truly a mixed bagin that the qualities are also disparate, but that nothing is merely a set of onscreen slides merits the studio praise for actually make proper DVD features & not the ever-so-painful to peruse e-book. From a dress design studio to audio extracts from radio programmes about the original release & sporting hero documentaries to storyboard art, this is a package of solid & researched pertinent materials with the lightest of fluffs tagging along.

Yes, Cinderella's Fairy Godmother does make an appearance but there are many other characters to enjoy as well.
The story is nicely-paced & the quality of the animation - now that it has been digitally restored is at times breathtaking.
There are some great songs throughout the film & the dialogue & characterisations are strong enough to keep Mum & Dad interested as well as give lots of enjoyment to the kids.
Our 3-year old daughter's shoes are now called "glass slippers" plus "bibbidy-bobbidy-boo" & "we can do it" are some of her favourite catchphrases.
As an expertin watching children's DVDs over & over again - this stands up as one of the best. Thoroughly recommended.

well what can i say its disney!! you know that its good as it has been remasterd it brings this cartoon feature film back to life & there are some really interesting dvd extras that really goin depth on how the feature was made. although cinderella is not completly my cup of tea you gotta love those mice!!! & as it is disney you have got to have it. disney fans it is a must
