The Break-Out Season! - By: S. R., 27 Sep 2008
This DVD set compiles all 24 episodes from the hilarious second season of the 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air'. While season 1 centered around Will trying to bring some levity & street wise knowledge to his snobbish relatives, season 2 shows Will blendingin with his new family & forming a more cohesive unit. This season also marked a lot of changes for the show including a brand new more spacious house set, new additions to the supporting cast such as Will's mom & Will's new best friend Tyriq (my personal favorite), the broadening of unique character traits for each family member that would become their trademarks, & the first time the show was rankedin the top 20. Here are the episodes that make up this memorable season:
1. DID THE EARTH MOVE FOR YOU?- Will's all consuming romance with a new girlfriend shakes up the Banks' household, as does Mother Nature, trapping them together during an earthquake.
2. THE MOTHER OF ALL BATTLES- Will & Carlton arrive as reinforcements when a bully challenges Ashley to a rumble, but there's real trouble when Philip & Vivian intervene.
3. WILL GETS A JOB- Will tries to juggle school & a new jobin order to earn money for the homecoming party
4. PSAT PSTORY- Will is a picture of confidence, while Carlton is a frazzled bundle of nerves preparing for college aptitude tests.
5. GRANNY GETS BUSY- Mortified over spying his mother kiss the handyman, Philip can't bear to think of her having a new manin her life.
6. GUESS WHO'S COMING TO MARRY?- Tensions spill over just before the wedding of Will's Aunt Janice when Will's mom meets Janice's intended & forbids Will to attend the interracial wedding.
7. THE BIG FOUR-OH- Vivian's 40th birthday marks a crisis & a career changein which she plans to perfect her dance skills.
8. SHE AIN'T HEAVY- Will hits it off with the full-figured Dee Dee (Queen Latifah), but her size keeps him from asking her to the dance.
9. CASED UP- A pompous lawyer (Malcom Jamal Warner) who's dating Hilary is no fan of Will's after he's sideswiped by Will's roadster.
10. HI-HO SILVER- Will & Carlton think a party guest (Zsa Zsa Gabor) stole their silverware.
11. THE BUTLER DID IT- Bell Biv DeVoe shoots a video at the Banks' house, courtesy of Carlton, who rents the house while his parents are away.
12. SOMETHING FOR NOTHING- After winning at the country club's Monte Carlo night fundraiser, Will learns that he's expected to donate the money to charity.'
13. CHRISTMAS SHOW- On a family ski trip, the Banks find that they must come up with Christmas gifts from the heart after their belongings are stolen.
14. HILARY GETS A LIFE- Hilary must work for a caterer after her credit cards are cancelled.
15. MY BROTHER'S KEEPER- On the basketball court, winning isn't as important to Will as it is to an opponent from Malibu Prep, who can't afford to lose.
16. GEOFFREY CLEANS UP- Geoffrey falls hard for a neighbor he believes is a housekeeper but who turns out to be very wealthy.
17. COMMUNITY ACTION- When Hillary is ordered to do community service at a free clinic, the doctorin charge becomes the antidote for her marriage mindedness.
18. ILL WILL- The family fears a steamy exposé when Geoffrey begins his memoirs, while Will fears the scalpel when he enters the hospital to have his tonsills removed.
19. EYES ON THE PRIZE- Needing a game show partner, Will must choose between bickering friends Jazz & Tyriq.
20. THOSE WERE THE DAYS- Philip & Vivian welcome a '60s radical, who arouses the FBI's interest & influences Will & Carlton to take action over the firing of a nonconformist teacher.
21. VYING FOR ATTENTION- Will dislikes his mother's new boyfriend.
22. THE AUNT WHO CAME TO DINNER- Aunt Helen arrives unexpectedly, & upsets Will & Carlton's plans for a rendezvous with two French women.
23. BE MY BABY TONIGHT- Ashley cringes when the family fawns over her relationship with Kevin, but Will chokes when she asks him about sex, & her curiosity about reproduction sends Will to a pregnancy counseling center.
24. STRIP TEASE FOR TWO- Will & Carlton become strippers to recoup their losses & get Vivian's bracelet back after getting a bad stock tip.
Extras include cast bloopers & a featurette called 'Best Bits of Bel-Air', with montages, trivia & pop-ups. It's disappointing that Will Smith seems intent on distancing himself from this show now that he's become a big Hollywood star. It would be great to hear interviews with him or even commentaries from the star of the show. Regardless, this DVD set was a welcome addition to my collection. If only WB would release thesein 3-month intervals instead of every several months. At the current rate, it will be years before we have all 6 seasons on DVD! Considering these are essentially "bare bones" DVD releases that don't pack the meaty extras of say, 'Seinfeld' or 'Simpsons', there's just no reason for why these sets can't come out faster.

This is an outrage (as Geoffery would say) - By: Danr76, 14 Feb 2006
According to blahdvd.com, the region 2 version of FPoBA season 3 isn't being released until June 6th which is nearly 4 months after the region 1 release. Why is it taking so long for that season to be released on region 2 when regions 1 & 2 of season 2 were released only a month or so apart?
Fresh Prince is too good to receive this kind of injustice. I'll probably buy a multi region DVD player coz I can't wait til June for season 3.
5 Stars...Brilliant family fun! - By: , 19 Jan 2006

Excellent perfomance and great comedy - By: Uenna, 06 Dec 2005
The 2nd season continued to delight where the first left off. A more mature Will Smith delivers great comedy & along with the rest of the cast. Watching this provided a good laugh & relaxation for me & my family. I have not laughed so hardin a long time & as laughter is the best medicine, I was healthier for it. Despite the comedy, the show dealt with real life issuesin a sublte & healthy manner. I look forward to season 3. I strongly reccomend.
