![]() Comparing Prices... Customer ReviewsShowgirl - By: Maria, 11 Mar 2008![]() Showgirl on umd is great a must buy 10/10 another reason to buy a psp Just a great show! - By: J. Owens, 27 Dec 2006 ![]() I was not a Kylie fan until I heard about her breast cancer & later saw some clips of this concert on the internet. I looked up the whole thing & am amazed! I love concert videos & this is one of the best produced shows I've seen, though unfortunately I wasn't able to see it live for geographic reasons. I watch the video at least once a week, usually as I'm winding down my day because it's simply enjoyable from the getgo. There is no message, no political statements (take note Madonna), just pure entertainment. I didn't know a lot of the songs other than the singles popularin the States like Can't Get You Out of My Head (truly an attrocious song, yet extremely catchy), & the other Fever singles, so watching it for the first time really was a "First Time" hearing a great deal of Kylie's work, & this show presents it magnificently. The show is very choreographed & glitzy, but unlike Madonna, Janet, Britney, & other tours of the like, Showgirl, or at least Kylie's partin it, isn't micromanaged & scripted down to the last second. Kylie allows herself a significant amount of freelance, occassionally joining her dancers. Most people say attribute this to her singing live, which is most likely true. With regard to her vocals, there are crisp, & impressive considering her limited abilities -- she makes the most of what she has. However, an echo at the tail end of long and/or high notes leads me to believe that she's getting a little bit of help with some difficult parts. This could simply be an effect of mixing video & audio separately. My enjoyment of this show encouraged me to look up other Kylie tours, & I must say that I wasn't as impressed with On a Night Like This, & sorely disappointed with the Fever Tour. On a Night Like This was a little too kitchy, & Fever seemed to be completely disjointed from one part to the next, & she just got lostin all that "stuff". She got it right though with Showgirl, & dispensed with the kitch & camp. This show is almost entirely kitch & camp free, replaced with a very classy feel. As I already said, I wasn't very familiar with the bulk of Kylie's material prior to purchasing this tour, but have very quickly come to love a great deal of it. My favorite performances were Better the Devil You Know (just an anthemic song), the Shocked/What Do I have To Do Medley/Spinning Around medley (pure fun), Confidein Me (powerful song with excellent choreography, now my favorite Kylie song), Hand on Your Heart, & Your Disco Needs You (again pure fun), but those are just a very slight edge above the rest, & were hard to pick. I could have lived without Slow as I just don't care for the song & the performance is very, well, slow. Other than that, this is a fabulous concert & DVD. I hope she didn't lose the feel of the original when she redid the show after undergoing her cancer treatment. Four stars from this American, Kylie. Come visit us some time, you have more fans here than you think. Quality from begining to end - By: Paul Madge, 10 Sep 2006 ![]() This is a superb disc both on the basis of content & technical quality. Even if you aren't a Kylie devotee the sheer class of this concert will keep you riveted. The sound quality is very high too. Kylie, The Best Showgirl Ever!! - By: Mr. J. Pascoe, 11 Feb 2006 ![]() This is Kylie's best tour ever, better than Fever tour 2002 which I thought impossible to beat at the time. With the Showgirl Tour, Kylie has broken the records for nearly all the major arenasin the UK because it literally sold outin seconds & more & more dates had to be added. It sold out so fast that a telephone exchange went down. I saw the show at Manchester's Evening News Arena on the 23rd April 2005 & it was spectacular, i couldnt believe my eyes & ears, Kylie sang so strongly & perfectly & didn't mime at all (unlike Britney & Madonna.) Kylie is definitely the best showgirl the world has ever had & i hope she gets better soon. When I saw herin Manchester, she was so good that i experienced such a lovely warm feeling. My sister & dad were very impressed as well & after every song my sister turned to me & was smiling saying "her voice sounds so strong" & i agreed. It is definitely worth buying but buy Fever & Live In Sydney as well because they are great but not as great as Showgirl. Intimate & Live is worth buying if you want to see Kylie perform on a low budget because she does it well even without all the technology & effects. Get well soon Kylie & definitely buy Showgirl even if you don't buy anything else, it will blow you away. Worst and best tour - By: , 05 Feb 2006 ![]() This is the worst & best tour allin one of Kylie. It's the worstin her voice, never has it sounded so nasal & so bad & she tries to be younger & younger & it just doesnt work anymore. But the stage, the build up of the show, the quality of the songs are amazingly well done & like many I like the smily kylie medley the most. Kylie is a top performer but she has no soul,no glowin what she does so thats why I give it 3 only
