Look lively - this is rubbish - By: T. A. Underwood, 11 Dec 2008
Just to set the record straight, this is a terrible British gangster movie, to the point where it is funny - that's why I've given it one star! It just steals from Sexy Beast, Scarface, Blow & all the other genuinely good gangster movies. There are even scenes that make no disguise about this, such as the image of a palm tree & sunset wall (like the Scarface posters), when they kip on the sofas at Ronny's place. The acting is third rate, the dialogue lackingin any wit, & like another reviewer said, the ending is laughable. Danny Dyer plays a rude boy, & his narrating is hardly Robert De Nero-esque. I don't think Brian De Palma will be thinking what could have been with this.
nasty, nasty people in beautiful locations - By: dan the fan, 20 Aug 2008
This is a nice film to watch from the point of view of the photography of beautiful locationsin spain & it gives an intriguing & at times humorous insight into how bad & ruthless british gangsters are,but I didn't like the way the main character justified becoming one of them by saying that the alternative to being this bad was living an honest but boring lifein london.God help Spain if London is that boring!

Alright Frankie? - By: Aaron Mulholland, 28 May 2008
Great film, great soundtrack. Tamer Hassan & Danny Dyer hook up again after Football Factory & this would attract an audience that mightn't have bothered with this film. Plenty of action & funny moments & some more serious- head on a spike for instance. Good to see some faces you know & some you don't.
Decent gangster fairytale - By: Jazzman, 03 Dec 2007
I wouldn't normally go out of my way to watch a film like The Business. However, I bought a copy & have to say - I really did enjoy it. This movie isn't for everyone, & if you don't like your filmic subject matter to contain elements from the 'grimier side of life' - you're going to probably hate it. But, beneath all of this is an entertaining story. Not a serious dramatisation of life as a gangster, but more a sort of urban fable, & for that reason shouldn't be taken too seriously, yet still offers up morality for the viewer.
The characters are believable, & engaging. Plus, the movie doesn't out-stay its welcome & moves along at a brisk pace, & doesn't get boring or preachy one bit.
It's not a classic, but it's worthy of a watch.
