A satisfying couple of hours - By: Irikefe Okonedo, 20 Jul 2008
Underwater adventure thriller starring Jessica Alba & Paul Walker as divers who discover a crashed plane filled with a lot of cocaine & also a sunken ship filled with treasure whilst divingin the Bahamas. The treasure on the sunken ship is worth millions but Alba, Walker & their lawyer friend Scott Caan cannot afford the $30,000 dollars needed to hire the salvage gear needed to retrieve the treasure from the sunken ship. Temptation comes their way when they realise that the cocaine on the crashed plane will be more than enough to pay for the salvage gear they need but this an extremely risky idea as drug traffickingin the Bahamas carries a minimum sentence of five yearsin prison. But the decision as to whether to try to sell the cocaine or not is taken out of their hands when the drug dealers whom the plane belonged to get wind of the fact that their plane & its drugs cargo has been discovered & threaten to kill Walker, Alba & Caan if they do not retrieve the cocaine from the crashed plane for them. I found this to be a good action film, setin the beautiful locale of the Bahamas with especially notable underwater scenes. Jessica Alba & Paul Walker make decent & good looking protagonists, Scott Caan provides useful support as their materialistic lawyer friend & the villains are very nasty pieces of work .The last 15 minutes or so - set underwater & aboard a boat - make a wonderful climax & will have you on the edge of your seat. A satisfying couple of hours that takes full advantage of the paradise locale of the Bahamasin which it is set.
a very average film but it has some nice photography of the sea - By: dan the fan, 14 May 2008
There is some good & colourful photography of the sea & plenty of attractive men & womenin bikinis & swimming trunksin this film but the dialogue is bland, the story slow & the underwater fight scenes lack credibility & sometimes you can't even tell who is fighting who.If you want to see a far superior film about the sea, pirates & sunken treasure then watch Pirates of The Caribbean with Johnny Depp & Keira Knightley.
Feeble, acquatic adventure - By: Marco Busani, 26 Dec 2007
This action movie is pleasingin that some of the oceanic scenery is visually appealing to look at. Furthermore, Jessica Alba helps enhance the aesthetics, swimming aroundin that skimpy outfit with all those curves on display. Early on you get a sense that the director is clutching at straws with this film as he seems to lend leverage to the fact that Alba's radiant looks & hot body are a major selling point of the movie itself. The reason why I mention this is because I lost count of the number of Alba close-ups & camera angles guaranteed to make the most of her curves. Beyond Jessica this movie offer precious little to the viewer.

The storyline isn't particularly engaging & the movie drags on as far as the eye can see. The first half of the movie consists of the two couples jumping on top of each other a lot, kissing a lot, alcohol, crude jokes & a misplaced belief that treasure hunting will guarantee untold riches; fodder for the teen market perhaps but juvenile & irritating for others. In the midst of all of this they set out to try & locate the wreck of the Zepher. They locate that aswell, as a plane crammed with cocaine.

The second half of Into the Blue sees the couplesin more peril as they fight off drug dealers & a rival treasure hunting outfit. One of the four even shares an intimate dinner date with a Tiger shark! The sharks return later onin the film for further helpings. Despite, the increasein pace I still found the movie to be boring. Into the Blue is disjointed, lackingin substance & the acting is average aswell.

A far better waterbased adventure is Deep Blue Sea, which has a good mix of action, humour & a stronger cast. My advice would be to step right out of the blue as opposed toin it;as this is a failed attempt to glamorise treasure hunting.

OH JESSICA... - By: A. Roberts, 19 Nov 2007
In this review I could just say, "Jessica Albain a bikini" & it would get at least 4 stars but the great thing about this film is the fact that it has just about everything, fights, chases, romance & sex appeal, the film has it all. When I first saw this film I couldn't stop watching it. It's a film you don't have to bein a certain mood for. The actors gel nicely, the plot thickens throughout with a few twists along the way. If you are a teenage boy like me you WILL enjoy this. It is a great film!
Loo Blue - By: Zarafa, 16 Sep 2006
Despite the undeniably good underwater shots, & the constant pouting of the pretty, pert-buttocked Alba, this film left me cold. In the end I was cheering for the sharks, hoping that they'd eat the entire cast!

Jared & Sam (Walker & Alba) grated on me with all their 'loved-up' mushiness. Their friends, Bryce & Amanda (Caan & Scott), were even more irritating & unbelievably stupid to boot. Somehow, these four amigos 'find' an 18th century pirate ship & proceed to bring stuff up any old how. And why not? Despite being under water for years, the treasure is just lying there on the sea bedin perfect condition - not a barnaclein sight. Not only that, but they also find a crashed plane, stuffed to the rafters with bad cheese (drugs).

Moral debate begins: they want to lay claim to the wreck, but they can only do this by finding evidence of the ship's identity. If they report the downed plane before knowing the name of the ship, they lose their claim on the wreck. The four treasure hunters eventually agree to keep things quiet. However, you just KNOW that Bryce & Amanda are going to balls things up big style - enter the big bad drug dealers on shiny boats brandishing huge guns & you have the rest of the movie. Silly & predictable stuff.

I could only marvel at the amazing lung capacities of Jared & co. How long can you hold your breath at a depth of 150 feet without exploding, I wonder? I watched until the end hoping that someone would do just that, but I was to be disappointed. Still, at least a shark killed one of them. No - I'm not going to spoil it by telling you. Rent the film & find out. Notice I said 'rent' & not 'buy', btw.

Disposable entertainment at its worst.
