Looks good - but that's all there is to it! - By: DangermouseZilla, 30 Dec 2008
The film opens with a fight scene which feels more ridiculous than impressive, but at least the main character seems to have been given some sort of personality since the first film.
Transporter 2 is a definite improvement but there are still a lot moments which exist purely to look good. There's nothing wrong with that of course - particularlyin an action film, but when it's obvious, & there's nothing else to it, it just draws attention to the lack of substance.
This film has so much missing, butin the face of it all it manages to be actually quite enjoyable for the most part. It's very well directed & the car scenes are examples of perfect action cinematography - even if they are completely unbelievable. They may be implausible, but they're a riot to watch.
In a nutshell: This film is all about visual effects & physics defying stunts - &in those areas it excels. But without much else the film can never really be considered as anything other than average. I was pleased to see that Frank has a bit more depth to him, the dodgy accent is still there - but at least we get to see him smile once or twice.
Very clever - By: S J Buck, 05 Dec 2008
I've seen the first film a couple of times & thought that whilst it was OK & Jason Statham can just about act it was nothing special. I really wanted to hate this, but came away liking it quite a lot. The filmmakers knew what they wanted here. Its brainless entertainment with tongue firmlyin cheek, & they know it....
In fact I enjoyed it more than the first film. The villianessin bra & panties, endless ridiculous car chases, fight sequences that have to be seen to be believed. Its all done with style, panache & a "don't care if this is not real" attitude that other films , that take themselves too seriously (i.e. Mission Impossible 3) could learn from.
So if you let it wash over you, you will have a entertaining hour & 3/4. Don't think about it just enjoy!
Great action - By: chelios1981, 24 Oct 2008
Whilst not going to win any oscars - this sequel is a treat for action fans, full of great cars stunts, great fights & of course pretty women.
Staham reprises his role as rent a courier Frank Martin, this time fillingin for a friend, & transporting a young child to & from school.
The child is kidknapped, & before you can say Man on fire, Statham is out to rescue him.
Whilst not original (or if thought prevails - logical)in plot, this is a fast & diverting film that simply does not slow from the opening car park fight scene to the brilliant Audi verses Miami police cruisers car chase & a final fight showdown on a plunging private jet.
Granted the film relies on some bad logic, some even poorer CGI & a script that would not feel out of placein a B movie, but this film still deliversin the same way that the first one did - lots of stylish & expensive looking action - led by a ice cool lead.
Statham has grown into his part well, whilst the writers/director(s) & producers (too many names to mentionin a small review - but the same ones responsible for the first Transporter movie & behind other Stahem projects) all know exactly what they are delivering - a fast furious & stylish action franchise, that side steps being saddled with long exposition & just gets on with entertaining the audience.
A great popcorn movie.
Of it'd type - very good. - By: C. R. Downing, 22 Oct 2008
I like the movie overall & of it's genre it's very good. Could someone get all the continuity right next time - I lost count of the edits where it doesn't match up. Really getting that right can't be that hard can it? Or are the producers happy with a botched job?
The Transporter, but gone off the rails a bit - By: boywiththestarsinhiseyes, 27 Sep 2008
Having thoroughly enjoyed The Transporter, I looked forward to seeing the sequel. But ultimately I was disappointed. This is The Transporter, but with added silliness, & that silliness is cranked right up to 11. Whilst the original film had a few fight scenes where you had to suspend your disbelief, it got away with it. In this one, the car chases, a very slickly done part of the first film, have just gone mad. In the first fifteen minutes there are at least two car stunts that just defy any kind of rational explanation, just jarringly silly. The action sequences carry this through all the way to the final dramatic denouement, which is again jaw-droppingly ridiculous. In the action genre such things aren't exactly out of the ordinary & so it's enjoyable enough hokum. If you're a Jason Statham fan then I'm sure you'll be reasonably satisified, but there are better action films out there & better Jason Statham films too.
