![]() Comparing Prices... Customer Reviewsduuuude.... - By: Timo Upton, 24 Jul 2008![]() Dude Wheres My Car? has all the igredients of a great weed flick. Two counterparts, a series & bizzare & random events & obviously, a touch of hedonism. The prolem with DWMC, is that almost all the humour seems to hinge on the use of the word "dude" rather than relying on the humour of the events or script. An even bigger flaw, is the fact that the two main characters... arein fact - one character. There's no dicernable difference. Every good tag team contrast eachother: Craig & Smokey from Friday. Harold & Kumar. Riggs & Murtaugh from Leathal Weapon. But the 'dudes'in this movie are identically written. The idea was good on paper, but after looking at Asthon Kutcher & Seann William Scott's stupid giggling faces for an hour & a half, you'll be wishing you'd spent the time doing something less painful. Like trying to swallow your arm. I'd give this one star for the insatiable Jennifer Garner looking seriously hotter than i've ever seen her. Actually that might be worth two. i'm giving it two stars. Drama at its finest - By: Wayne Redhart, 10 May 2008 ![]() In recent years there has been a strong tendency for Hollywood film-makers to derive their plots from the work of William Shakespeare- the master playwright of Stafford-upon-Avon. 'My Own Private Idaho' was modelled on 'Henry IV' & 'Ten things I hate about you' has firm roots within 'The Taming of the Shrew'. Even Baz Luhrman's 'Romeo & Juliet' is rumoured to contain a handful of allusions to the bard's work. Less well-known, however, is the fact that the film 'Dude Where's My Car' constitutes a contemporary homage to 'The Merchant of Venice'. Adapted for MTV by its star Seann William Scott (best known for his role as Fistlerin the 'American Beauty' films) & his father, director Ridley Scott (who famously directed the Oscar-winning TV game-show 'Gladiators'), this is an extremely respectful take. Although Shakespeare's archaic idiom has been heavily updated, I am sure that any scholar would agree that the essence of the bard's content has not only been preserved, but also diluted to taste. If Shakespeare were still alive today, there can be little doubt that he would be laughing inside his grave. However, it is interesting to note that a large quantity of footage was omitted from the original theatrical release (after Shakespeare's notoriously difficult great-grandson refused to grant copyright clearance,in the wake of a blazing dispute over royalties). In addition to Ridley Scott's feature length director's commentary, it's good to see that these scenes have finally been re-instated for this release. Probably the most noteworthy of additional sequences is thatin which Seann William Scott & Simon Callow (in a cameo appearance that was previously excised from the film) perform the opening of act IIIin its original, unpolluted form. Former RSC child-star Scott's enunciation is laced with an honest air of simplicity, that bears reasonable comparison with the manner of Olivierin his heyday (although theatrical purists may object to the background distraction of Ashton Kitchener, as he grapples to retrieve a bag of dope from the 'wrong end' of a chimpanzee- with hilarious consequences!!!). I'M A TRANSGENDERED CHALLENGED MALE. lol - By: B. Campbell, 17 Mar 2008 ![]() Fantastic Movie, freaking briyunt. This & similar, brill for a non-care-in-the-world sumat to watch, movie. at least watch it once, u WONT regret it. .·'¯`·-> shweee <-·'¯`·.- I feel guilty... but! - By: J. Robinson, 27 Sep 2007 ![]() I feel guilty for enjoying this film. One night I was watching tv - channel hopping - & luckily I missed the credits for this film (they're awful) & saw most of the first scene. It was so surreal I kept going. As the improbability of the events ramped up I was sure that it would eventually 'jump the shark' & I would lose interest. I never did! Played out, as it is,in short sketches they're is something here I feel to satisfy anyone - although my wife recommends watching it whilst having a drink. It's funnier if you just let yourself go! One or two sections are pap - but that is where the sketch based system really works. if there is a bad joke just wait a minute - another one will be along soon! Heartily recommended. Highly Recommended!! - By: The Wombler, 22 Aug 2007 ![]() As you'll see from the reviews, people either love or hate this film. You won't know which you are till you watch it, so just rent it out for an evening or borrow it off a friend. I've already seen it once, & I can't wait to buy it & see it again with my family & friends!! It's funny because of its randomness. You seriously do NOT expect it to become as weird as it does, it's brilliant for its randomnity (real word?). It's both predictable & unpredictablein all the right places, & its plot is refreshingly simple. You can break away from it, have a quick popcorn- or tickle-fight on the couch & then come back to the movie a few minutes later without losing anything. It's a celebration of all that's utterly ridiculous.
