Mariah when she really could SING - By: Vitz, 08 Sep 2008
This is Mariah when she first hit the music world - when she could hit those BIG notes effortlessly - unfortunately unlike today. Fantastic back up band (incl American Idol Judge Randy Jackson on bass) & includes that famous duet with Trey Lorenz singing "I'll be there" by Jackson 5.
The Concert That Left Critics Speechless. - By: R. Birkett, 04 Jul 2008
The MTV unplugged concert was of Mariahin her very early days, & was shot live at Kaufman Astoria studios New York on March 16 1992, she performed songs from her self titled debut, as well as back then her latest album `Emotions', the concert vocally is absolutely flawless, & when you watch it you can definitely see why it stunned critics who suggested that Mariah couldn't sing live, & was not a live performer.

The set list starts off with the upbeat `Emotions', very well performed the high notes are perfect, next it's a lung busting performance of `If Its Over', defiantly one of my favourites from the concert, after that `Someday', I loved the perfectly pitched & delivered high note at the end, as well as feeling the energy of the performance, again one of my favourites, same with the next song `Vision Of Love', a more laid back version but still extremely good vocally, `Make It Happen' again perfectly performed & fantastic energy, the most well known performance from the concert, Mariah's rendition of the classic Jackson 5 song `I'll Be There',in my opinion I think Mariah's rendition is better than the original because it was a better vocal performance, & finally the last song of the night was `Can't Let Go' which was an encore, this performance was not bad at all actually, again it was a slightly more laid back version than the original.

Overall a fantastic concert from start to finish, but not only that, the bonus videos from the `Emotions' album are fantastic, & you can't get than those videos on other Mariah DVD's, but there has been some videos removed from the original VHS tape, such as `To Be Around You' which was more of video collage, & `I'll Be There', it would of been nice if they had been included on the DVD version, but I guess they we'nt that important anyway, I did like the fact that even more bonus footage was thrownin with the exclusive interview, which gets up close & personal with Mariah at her home, & talks about her early life & her album `Emotions',

There are many reasons to buy this, primarily because it's on DVD & with that you obviously get much better picture quality, sound quality, & easy access to the songs.
Mariah Carey at full throttle - By: dan the fan, 02 Apr 2007
If you want to see Mariah Carey letting rip at full throttle then this concert is for you - it was certainly to the liking of the audience who cheered her on as she belted out songsin a way that few other people can.
This was a bit like seeing her first performance at the Apollo Theatrein Harlem where the crowd got up on their feet as she sang Vision of Love.
My favourite song was I'll Be There which was originally sung by the Jackson Five. However I thought the three music videos on the dvd were visually uninteresting. If you want to see Mariah Careyin her first two years as a professional singer then this dvd is of interest from that point of view.If you want to see her singingin more visually striking surroundings then get the concert from Maddison Square Gardens.

Early Mariah at her best - By: Mr. Cj Mansell, 18 Oct 2006
If you like Mariah, you will love this. I have this on video, but when this was released on DVD l was so pleased. This is Mariah at her bestin her very early days. All those people who said, at that time, Mariah could not singin a live enviroment were shot downin flames when this unplugged gig was recorded. I just wished l had been there. Every track is brill, but l have to say "If it's over" & a duet with Trey Lorenz singing "I'll be there" are the out of this world. Apart from looking drop dead it's a brilliant DVD. Enjoy.
