Very enjoyable - By: A. S. Gilbert, 10 Jul 2008
I enjoyed watching the TV series & have enjoyed watching the programmes again on DVD. Well presented, I love the glimpse of lifein the kitchen up at the big house!
Quite fascinating & some of the cookery tips are still quite valid.
I want a kitchen like that! - By: D. Bathory, 30 May 2007
With a collection of around 1500 dvds of all genres this is by far one of the most enjoyable & relaxing to watch that I have. I saw this series on television when it first came out & was enchanted by it. I watched all eight episodes when I got home from work last night & dearly wish that they had continued the series, even if that had meant I'd not gotten any sleep at all! The premise of the programme is simple, illustrating the way meals were produced for the big housesin Victorian times & the backbreaking hard work that went into producing them. There are only three or four people that you see throughout the whole series but they couldn't have put together a more pleasant & watchable team. Having enjoyed the people, the cooking & the humour I also have to say that I am madlyin love with that beautiful, big kitchen & hope to have one of my own some day.
The victorian kitchen - By: Mrs. N. Clayton-reid, 14 May 2007
This is just perfect......How hard the servants worked what delightful food & such hard work to make it delightful.Such a shame that the Ruth Mott's of this world are getting few & far between, thank goodness for this fantastic series. We can still have some of the history alive.Should be shown to school children to show how easy there life really is.
