Edge of the Seat!!!! - By: Mr. G. Bridgeman-clarke, 21 Dec 2008
I watched this film without knowing anything about it. There was I sitting down to a two hour horror hoping to be entertained & I must say that I have never ever been so takenin by a film. The plot is well described by others on here so no need to go there & I would not wish to take any of the thrill out of the film by telling the plot. I hate people who do that. What I would say is that the film had me looking away & praying that what the young girl said she was going to do she wouldn't do - but anticipation is a real thrill ride here.
Great casting & only five actors. I wonder why this film never got the acclaim it deserves? This knocks Saw & Hostel for six. This is a real thrill a minute & whilst you may guess what is about to happen, it has enough plot turns to keep you on edge.
How can I not give it 5 out of 5?

filmed for the majority of the film with only two actors this uneasy & unsettling story centres around a young girl who is groomed on an internet chat room by a much older man. They then agree to meet & go back to his house, but the trouble is, the girl has something very differentin mind... A brilliant performance from Ellen Page, that girl can really act!Not a particularly nice topic to approachin a film but its a gripping story none the less. Especially the 'surgery' scene, watch the men flinch.
really good - By: An avid reader, 06 Nov 2008
Firstly, this is not your usual Hollywood thriller.
The suspense & thrills come from the situation & the script (and THAT scene), if you want big bangs & glossy special effects then go see Transformers 3 or the prequel to the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre or whatever nonsense the main studios are churning out for the consumption of the masses these days.
This is an original, intelligent, script led, well scripted & acted, thought provoking 2 handed thriller that isnt scared to take it's timein building tension & reaching it's conclusion.
If only more film makers were brave enough to make movies like this, the world would be a better place.
Ignore the negative reviews, let those reviewers get back to there mass market, special effect led, dumb cliched rubbish. Watch this & appreciate how cinema can & should be.
Awful! - By: H. Rogers, 04 Oct 2008
After being told what an 'amazing film' this was, i decided i should buy it. I totally regret this decision.
The first couple of minutes or so, actually seem fairly promising, but don't be fooled! Once the guy wakes up from being drugged, the film quickly gets worse & worse.
How anyone can rate this 5 stars, i haven't a clue. All i can say is i'm glad i only spent £5 on this. And even that was a waste.
Spectacular - By: Langdon Ulder, 28 Sep 2008
Hard Candy is an amazing film. There are only 5 charactersin the entire movie but that adds to the greatness of it. Ellen Page as Hayley Stark is brilliant & Patrick Wilson as Jeff also gives a great performance. There is no gorein Hard Candy despite its 18 certificate but the power of suggestion makes you believe there is gallons of blood & guts. The ending is original & the film is fantastic, I can't think of a better horror-thriller than this.
