"HIGH FIVE!" - By: Kona, 30 Oct 2008
Sacha Baron Cohen stars as Borat, a journalist from Kazakhstan who goes to America to make a documentary. Whilein New York, he sees "Baywatch" on TV & vows to go to California & marry Pamela Anderson. Off he goes across the country, meeting (and insulting) various groups along the way, including Jews, Christians, animal lovers, rodeo fans, fine diners, a doctor, & just about anyone else you can imagine. The vignettes were shot with real people, a la Candid Camera, who react to the outrageous words & actions of the guileless & amazingly coarse Borat.

I'd heard that this movie was outrageous & vulgar & insulting & it certainly is - & also the funniest movie I can remember seeing. I laughed non-stop (while shaking my headin wonder at Borat's "victims": Why would they sign releases to let their footage appearin the movie?).

Borat never breaks character & keeps the joke up right to the end. His pridein his run-down country is sweet & his innocence is what makes the movie work. In the Extras, Borat appears on "The Tonight Show"...

Jay Leno: "What do you say to people who say your movie is homophobic & anti-Semitic?"

Borat: "Thank you!"

You'll either love it or think it's the most vulgar & offensive movie ever made. I loved it.
Hillarious - By: Mrs. Maureen Adams, 27 Sep 2008
I saw "Borat" on Sky Anytime last night.
It really exceeded my expectations. It was really funny,
although the nude fighting scene did churn my stomach.
Funniest film in a long time - By: Melanie Grey, 14 Sep 2008
I thought the film was hilarious. It was not thought provoking & did have some pretty debatable topics, but on the surface it was very very funny & worth every minute of it. I watched the "cut" scenes over & over again.
Not As Funny As People Like To Make Out - By: Marlyly, 27 Aug 2008
I'd heard nothing about this film before watching it other than the general consensus that it was one of the funniest films that many had ever seenin their life, so obviously I wentin with high expectations that couldn't fail but be dissapointed. It's not that the film isn't funny, because it is when you'rein the right mood & with the right group of friends, but its not clever, witty humour like I was expecting, instead it was an invitation to laugh at Ali G making an idiot of himself for an hour & a half. I know there are many complaints about the sexist + racist comments madein the film, but come on, the films not discriminating againts certain racial groups, it's discriminating against just about everyone & everything! Not a film to watch if you like movies with any substance, pretence at a plot, decent script, good acting, ladidaa, but something to see if you need a cheap laugh & something to discuss with your friends the next day. Watch it at least oncein your life, just don't expect a matserpiece.
