laugh cry but all gas in the end (mental paralysing movies) - By: Mr. Sp Shrestha, 31 Dec 2009
Sorry but this is true for many hindi movies, bad copy of bad hollywood movies. you can waste you time for at least 3 hours each day of your life & never finish this long list of pirated stories;
what is amazing is there are people who enjoys watching same stuff on every movie & still be entertained. no creativity!!! these producers & directors who exploits the mind, corrupt the societyin every sense possible; but for most folksin our developing countries it has been the only source of entertainment(so bit of social service). main aim of these movies are to drain emotionally , dull intellect & kill time.
watch one movie & you get the idea.

Refreshing Bollywood Musical Entertainer - By: Mitun, 11 Aug 2009
The movie's a refreshing but straight forward indian love story with a hint of good comedy. The movie contains soothing songs, sung beautifully by Sonu Niigaam (Brilliant Indian Singer). The musical score, which is one of the top Bollywood scores of 2006 is provided by Anu Malik.

The lead actors, Akshay Kumar & Salman Khan performed brilliantly as the two main characters. Especially Salman Khan, who is a show stealerin the movie performing comic & emotional scenes with ease. The lead actress, Preity Zinta performed well but did not get enough screen time & was relegated to a supporting character.

The cinematography by Sudeep Chattergee is eye pleasing & the direction by debutant director, Shrish Kunder (Husband of Farah Khan who is the director of Main Hoon Na & Om Shanti Om) is impressive.

The movie was released during the same time as Don (Starring Sharukh Khan), which was not a good movie but shockingly successfull at the box office. On the other hand, Jaan-E-Mann, which is very underrated but a far more superior movie, suprisingly failed at the box office. It really surprises me how a critically acclaimed & a quality movie like Jaan-E-Mann was ignored & not appreciated by the majority of the audience.

I received the brand new original sealed DVD early. It was purchased for only £3.21 (including shipping), which is a bargain.

The picture & sound quality of the DVD is excellent.

It is a must buy for both Bollywood fans & fans of universal cinema who enjoy elegant romantic comedies accompanied by good music.
Shaky start but strengthens into decent Bollywood romance - By: Lyn, 24 Feb 2009
The start of this movie was a bit chaotic & silly (e.g. unnecessary portrayal by the usually superb Anupam Kher as a dwarf & then a chorus of dwarfs comingin through a mock hypnosis scene). Added to this Salman Khan's character at the start is a complete ego-centric jerk. While this is part of the plot he wasn't great fun to hang out with. All this meant that the 29 year old I was watching it with gave it away early.
The story involves an egocentric actor who cuts off from his wife to ensure his movies success (as marriage makes him unmarketable apparently) She divorces him. He hatches a plan to avoid alimony payments by encouraging her marriage to someone else (a nerd who had a crush on herin college). His plan largely works but he realizes he still loves her & sees his mistake & does the right thing. Who will she end up with...?
Akshay Kumar's arrival & more on-screen from Preity Zinta lifted things. Anupam Kher turn up again (not as a dwarf this time) when the action moves to New York for most of the movie.
Akshay was excellent throughout going from shy nerd to handsome guy with a great heart. I used to take or leave Akshay but I find that assessment seems to depend on the style of the movies. He is greatin romances but I don't like him doing hammy idiotsin comedies. He is goodin action movies - though they aren't my style so much & I haven't seen himin this genre as much.
To an extent the same is so with Salman. If his characters go whinney or egocentric as they can often do I just don't relate. Yet he can do light romance with heart & even more subtle comedy (e.g. Salaam Namaste) quite well. His dancing seems to vary a lot too from a bit awkward to quite good.
Salman's character wakes up to himself & becomes more likable as this transformation progresses & there is good camaraderie between Akshay & Salman, & also between Preity & both males.
Salmans character dressesin costumes a bit to hide identity & there is a bit of fun with him dressed as Zorro, Elvis & even Marilyn Monroe (looking like as hooker with attitude but oddly sexy....!)
The romantic triangle & Salman's salvation go well & the movie settles into an overall entertainer. There are some catchy tunes & Ok dance numbers too.
I think its anywhere between 3 1/2 & 4. It seems to be generally rated at average to a little above average on most Net sites.
