I found this film highly enjoyable & I recommend it. Some have said that this franchise went downhill when Brian Singer left, but I would much rather watch this than have to sit through Superman Returns again.

The third part of the X-men trilogy continues the story of the rivalry between Magneto & Charles Xavier as they seek to control the diverse powers of the mutants. The film moves to a visually impressive climax as the two armies battle for supremacy on the Golden Gate Bridge.
Yet this film lacks the strength & integrity of the two previous films. The carefully constructed dialogue & attention to the details of character is replaced by action sequences & CGI-imagery. New characters are introduced but are not explored, serving only to deflect attention from the rivalries & affections of the leads. Crucially, three important characters from the previous films are eliminated well before the climax.
The film does boast some effective scenes, mostly when McKellen is onscreen & once again his scenes with Patrick Stewart generate an energy & tension that other scenes lack. The battle sequences are imaginative & well-constructed & the ending is fine. However, compared to the previous filmsin the trilogy, this movie does feel somewhat soulless & lacking the same passion for the source material.
Worth a second look - By: Mr. G. T. Redshaw, 04 Jun 2008 When I saw thisin the cinema I was disappointed & it would be fair to say it is the weaker of the 3 films.
I could be picky & say there were too many new characters with not enough character development (i.e. Angel) & there was less action.
However I chanced a second watch & it is actually rather good, not great but good. I does round off the series & the plot `although simple' is well done.
It is ironic that we critic an action film for not enough action, but also too much action at the expense of a good plot.
Actually pretty good - By: D. Climo, 20 Oct 2007 I must say. Apart from the films I have never been a follower of Xmen really but have still found the films very entertaining & have been familiar with some characters like Storm, Cyclops & Wolverine etc.
I have also found the plotlines of the films great aswell.
However despite the greatness of the first & second film I was startled a little to hear that the third film didn't get as warm a reception as the first two did. Still I decided to get it for myself & see what it was like & I'm glad I did as it rounds up the trilogy & is more of an improvement over Spiderman 3 plotwise & certainly muich more entertaining than Superman Returns. What I also liked was that, although the second film is good, this is about 30 mins shorter!
Liked the first two? At least rent this.
The short review - By: Film Junkie, 13 Aug 2007 Okay some people feel the need to say a lot about the other films... my guess is that if you're looking at this one, you've either already seen it or are looking to complete your collection by taking advantage of this good price so I'll keep my review short & sweet.
This film is sooo good. If you liked the others you will love this 'end'. It's not as long as the previous x-men & I'd have been gutted if I'd handed over my £6 at the cinema to see it for that reason only. The special effects are there but not overdone, it sticks to the plot from the previous films (unlike other sequels I could mention) & does it well. Brian Singer for director of the new Spiderman please (if they do one). Little tip though - watch it right until the end of all the credits. ;)
