This show is totally terrific. Based around supernatural powers - this show really does it very well. With one human with supernatural powers wanting more supernatural powers, its up to other humans with supernatural powers to stop this evil force & save the world from destruction.
The story sounds like a RPG fantasy game or a story pulled from the Marvels Comics Universe, but honestly, the show is simply amazing & has so many twists & turns along the way to make you coming back for more. The special effects just keeps you wondering how these effects were put together - especially the power to freeze time, even during an explosion.
Heroes is such a wonderful show with such an amazing cast that makes the show that much amazing. Should not be missed.

Mythology & good comics have always been used larger than life characters to juxtapose courage & talent against doubt, vulnerability & personal struggle. Heroes nearly always alwats gets this balance right. The characters, like the beautiful cheerleader whose talent exposes her to predators, are perfectly pitched to develop these themes. Like real life & its inspiring moments, its a bit cheesy now & then. Nonetheless its heroic message of hope admid a sea of darkness is strongly conveyed. This is great popular art.
VOL 1-GENESIS=AMAZING!! - By: S. J. Pinder, 31 May 2008 what i want to say has already been said so I'm going to keep this quite basic by saying this show has to be one of the greatest shows ever made & is definitelyin my top ten list along with-BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER,SOUTH PARK,PUSHING DAISIES,DOCTOR WHO,ALIAS,DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES,THE SIMPSONS,TORCHWOOD,and THE TWILIGHT ZONE.
all episodes are fantastic & it never ever drags like LOST or 24,and never resorts to immature silliness like ChArMed(seasons 1-3 & 7-8)and is always engaging with its intended audience...i hope the show continues for quite a few years & i hope to purchase thisin the near future along with the steady going second season:).
the episode five years gone is a classic episode & the finale is explosive:):)i love it sooooooooooo much.

Fantastic - By: O. Doyle, 22 Apr 2008 I'd heard rave reviews about Heroes but couldn't quite fathom how it was going to work into a whole season & possibly beyond. I had the same misgivings about Prison Break & have had to eat my words as not only did it work for one season, it worked for 2 & I can't wait to get my hands on season 3. Heroes falls into the same slot as Prison Break - I didn't think it would work but it not only works, it knocks spots off the competition.
The show focuses on eight characters, each of whom has a different power. Claire Bennett is a high school cheerleader with the power to regenerate when injured, DL Hawkins can phase through matter, Niki Sanders has super-strength, Isaac Mendez is an artist who paints the future, Hiro Nakamura is an office worker who can travel through time, LAPD Officer Matt Parkman has the power of telepathy, Nathan Petrelli is the ambitious politician who can fly, while his brother Peter is an in-home nurse with the ability to absorb others' powers when he is near them. For me, what separates Heores from other super-hero shows & movies is that each of our heroes has a flaw. We've got a drug addict, a depressive, an internet stripper & a politician to name but a few. How could Heroes not be a winner.
The castin Heroes fit their characters perfectly & where other shows focus on the characters super-powers, Heroes steps out of the shadows & focuses on the characters & their links to each other. It makes for a fantastic first season & I'm currently waiting with baited breath for season 2 to wow me!
