feel good movie - By: P. Vance, 15 Apr 2009
Although the film follows a much trodden formulae.... ie, tracking the lives of five? couples & their individual stories the stories/plots are above average & engage the viewers interest & empathy throughout the film....in places either funny or moving. Even the wayin which the couples occasionally overlapin time & place appears natural rather than contrived. Actually, although I have given this film only 4 stars, it probably deserves 4 1/2 As bollywood movies go a good sense of modernity & realism.
I strongly recommend
A little bit of everything! - By: Mrs. S. Bhanot, 10 Mar 2009
It was a great movie, covers a lot of topicsin everyones lives. Best part was no violence, no crudities , very real - a sweet film.
Really enjoyed this one - By: Lyn, 04 Feb 2009
The photos on the cover of this DVD made me unclear whether this was to be a serious modern drama like "Lifein a Metro". I found that it is modern but very muchin keeping with light Bollywood offerings.
It has a very strong cast who all do well. We have Priyanka Chopra as a rising movie star & Salman Khan planning a publicity stunt romance. They were doing some enjoyable light comedy with good timing & I would have liked even more of this section (I usually can take or leave Salman Khan but I thought he was really goodin this); Anil Kapoor (as midlife husband flirting with an affair. He is always such a good actor) & Juhi Chawla (his wife), Akshaye Khanna (doing a convincing job as a commitmentphobe) & Ayesha Takia as his girlfriend; John Abraham (who started as nothing much earlyin the movie but got much stronger as it went) & Vidya Balan (as his wife) & Govinda & Shannon Esra (as his non-Indian love interest.
It is six interweaving stories of romance that are varyingin their degrees of 'reality' but all reveal different perspectives & truth about the romances involved.
The music stands out for me with 2 big memorable songs (that I downloaded) & some good big dance sequences. It is well directed.
It is a film with heart & great for lovers of romance & Bollywood. It is modern but doesn't lose the zest of what Bollywood addsin emotions, colour & ability to suck you in. I cared about the characters & shed a tearin the sad section.
I really liked this one.
Truly Lovely - By: AG Stephenson, 09 Jul 2007
This is a very beautiful life-affirming film.
It consists of six love stories very cleverly interwoven - the scriptwriters must have been great jigsaw players at an early age.
Each story is very different from all the rest & yet they are all very engaging. The film lasts nearly four hours & yet when it ends, you are already hoping for a sequel.
Priyanka Chopra is very lovelyin her role & surprises us with a very carefully crafted performance with some real depth. Govinda's heart-warming story isin liaison with an unknown but surprisingly good American actress called Shannon Esrechowitz - she's a real find.
The most heart-wrenching story concerns John Ambraham (an Indian actor despite the name) & Vidha Balan - you will need to watch it to find the outcome of this intriguing tale.
The direction is first-classin every respect from the wonderful set-pieces to the careful use of lighting, including appropriate use of grey tonesin the Anil Kapoor story to the exceptional use of location shotsin London & elsewhere.
Do yourself a favour & buy this DVD - if you believein the redemptive value of peace & love, you won't regret it!
