Almost but not quite. - By: Silverback, 03 Oct 2008
I think this is a really good introduction to fly fishng small still waters. It has lots of usefull stuffin it. The only reason I gave it 4 & not 5 stars is I felt more time could have been devoted to casting(Hywel Morgan is a world class caster). However, I still rate it highly & feel the whole DVD has been put together well. Worth adding to your collection(if you have one).
At the price, can you afford not to. I have also seen "The Main Course"in the same series..equally as good & packed with more useful stuff.
Great introduction to fly fishing - By: Mr. J. P. Shields, 23 Aug 2008
This DVD is a great introduction to stillwater fly fishing from the bank & covers equipment, basic overhead casting, fly types & methods for trying to cover as many fish as you can. It is exactly right for beginners (like me). Experienced fly anglers will probably not find much to use here.
It could have done with more fishing material & fewer scenic shots accompained by soft music, but frankly for the price I can't knock more than a star off for that.
If you are a beginner though do yourself a favour & have one casting lesson with an instructor to get you started - you can't learn to cast from a book or DVD. For 30 quid or whatever it could mean the difference between a sport that give you pleasure for a lifetime or giving upin frustration as your line flops limply on the water 5 feetin front of you yet again..........
