Lots of fun - By: J. Smith, 14 Nov 2008
After watching Erin & Karen on Strictly come Dancing I instantly wanted to buy this workout dvd. After using it a couple of times I really loved it. The steps can be difficult, so you will need to do it a couple of times each week to make sure you improve. Apart from that I thought it was good value for money, & if you want to feel a burnin your legs & arms after using it, then this is the one for you.
Hard Work But Great Fun! - By: Lizi, 03 Nov 2008
I love work out DVDs with a dance element. The first time I tried it I was quite frustrated, but with perceverance I am now able to do the workout steps 95% of the time. There are some complicated steps but if you keep working on them they get easier.
I like all the different dances, the quickstep & jive are definitely the most high impact, but the feeling of accomplishment at the end makes it all worthwhile. I think if you like dancing & are willing to invest some time, this is a great choice. I found spending a little time on the instructional parts, separate from workout time, helped me refine some difficult steps. If you get stuck initially, focus on keeping moving during the workout & then find the relevant sectionin the instructional part.
A great workout, which works the body... & the mind!
Strictly Come Dancersize - By: S. L. England, 09 Oct 2008
I totally agree with all the reviews that say stick with it. This is a fun dvd to get fit to. I do this with a friend twice a week & we have both toned up & feel much better for it.
After watching through a couple of times, we decided to stick to one dance over & over first, then added the others one by one as we mastered the moves. It took us about 6 weeks to master all of them but the sequence seems to have been done to warm up with the cha cha cha being the least aerobic, the quick step & jivein the middle give you a really good aerobic workout. The samba is a good cool down routine but I would still recommend doing the actual warm up & cool down as the stretching exercises are invaluable & stop the aches & pains!
I can't wait for the next one.
The most enjoyable workout DVD.... - By: Wishes she could be on Strictly, 07 Oct 2008
....it really is, especially if you are a fan of SCD. I have been using this as a core part of my workout regime since January this year & I have lost four stone (with calorie counting too). One of the key factorsin this weight loss programme is that I have been enjoying the exercise, & therefore I am motivated to continue.
This really is the most fun - it works you, but you are dancing so you are learning moves to impress your friends at parties etc. I had never learned any kind of dancing EVER, & I find Karen & Erin's tuition pleasant & easy to follow. My feet didn't always do what I wanted them to at first, but it is really worth working through the instruction sections a few times until you pick it up.
I exercisein the morning before work, & nothing puts mein a better mood for the day than jive/samba (and the rest is fantastic too). Buy it, stick with it, & you'll love it. I was a confirmed couch potato & it really works for me!
Great to watch, impossible to do!!!! - By: Vanessa Vinos, 11 Aug 2008
Despite having 15 years Latin training behind me (albeit 20 years ago!!),and being really quite fit still, I found this DVD impossible to finish. Even though I could pick up the steps very easily as they sprang back into my memory, the routines themselves were SO complex, that I found each one impossible to finish. The routines were like complete dance routines for the show, but each one twice as long. There is no doubt you will burn fat, if you manage to get through any of them without having a heart attack. Consequently, it can be quite de-motivating not being able to finish any routine (apart from the warm-up & cool-down!)
It's clear a lot of work has gone into this DVD, but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who has anything less than a very advanced level of fitness. On the other-hand I think Lilia's DVD Latinasize, hits just the right note; a few great, basic steps, but great routines you can finish with a feeling of accomplishment.
