Rearrange the concepts & plot elements to create your own blockbuster Stargate movie!

[Magic artefact solves all problems immediately]
[20 minutes of Cameron getting the tar beaten out of him]
[Artefact stumbled upon on 1st/2nd/3rd attempt]
[Mortally wounded cast member runs it off]
[The ship/earth/galaxy is on the verge of being destroyed!]
[Use the stargate (optional)]
[Limp riddle/puzzle/word-guessing game required to save the day]
[Bond-esque villain spends most of their time gloating]
[Mythical character turns out to be a magic alien (options: Robin Hood, Santa Claus, the Fonz...)]
[SG-1 get captured, escape unharmed (repeat as often as physically possible)]
[Carter can reprogram it] [in the nick of time]
Worth the Wait - By: Lin Goodwin, 30 Aug 2008
I have just finished watching this new DVD as it was given to me
for my birthday,

I have been an avid fan of Stargate for many years & suffering some
withdrawal symptoms since Virgin Media took over NTL & we lost Sky
One & subsequently I missed nearly all of series 10 & most of 8
and 9.

It is a film that can be watchedin a stand-alone format, or with a
basic knowledge of Stargate. It certainly isn't a direct sequel to
the original film. However, the more you know of the team's history
the more enlightened you will be & enjoy some of the more subtle
nuances.

It's definatley a Sci-Fi action film but contains all the elements of
the classic blockbuster styles. There's a little Indiana jones, a
little Lord of The Rings, & an element of mythology along with the
gunslinging military action, humour & typical sci-fi action. At one
point there's even a little reminiscence of the Terminator.

I won't spoil it by giving the plot away but, basically SG-1 have to
save the world from not one but two deadly adversaries at the same
time as a result of the usual government dimwits thinking they know
best. The authoritarian, stubborn & typically single-minded
government agent was there to throw a spannerin the works with the
worst idea ever that could have had devastating consequences.

A lot of characters reappear from the series, as too reminders of some of the plot-lines, however it is not too difficult to slot them in. To say more would spoil it if you havent' seen it yet.

If you have not followed Stargate, but like Sci-fi or Sci-fan you
should enjoy this even on first watch, although you may need to check
out some background notes to totally get it. If you have ever watched
Stargate you will thoroughly enjoy this movie. The same old wit &
charm of the central characters is still there. Although, I do still miss O'Neil & Hammond from the early days,

I thoroughly enjoyed this film & it was definatley worth the wait!

Kommt mit deutscher Tonspur - By: Konstantinos Kostis, 06 Aug 2008
A poor story stretched too far - By: B. A. O'flaherty Seddon, 01 Aug 2008
I'm a big fan of the SG1 series & indeed the movie that the series was based on, however like many SG1 fans I found the story line of the Ori a bit thin & whilst it managed to trundle to the 10th series without too much trouble this movie should never have been made.

The story line was thin; I mean why include every possible "bad guy"in one movie? It felt like the writers/producers were sitting there saying "how can we beef this up"? "I know, let's bring the replicators back (again)"

There were good parts...the actors did a good job, apart that guy from Ally McBeal...what were they thinking when they cast him???

Sorry but I'm going to rate this movie as a zero (not allowedin Amazon so therfore it has 1 star), I'm hopeful that the other SG1 movie was better written & will even watch it when I get the chance.

fan exploitation - By: louisa peach, 24 Jun 2008
Basically its just like a normal episode, but longer, with, I thought, rather too many enemies to vanguishin one go. Being a big fan of the series, I watched every single episode ever, some of of them are very good & I watched them a few times. As a movie though, I didn't feel it was worth watching twice, you could watch it once though & it still is a lot better than a plenty of movies out there. However, I did feel the whole thing was simply put together for the money. which is fair enough I suppose, but should not be that obvious. Make me feel I bought a movie with something to say! Unfortunately - it did not.
