![]() Comparing Prices... Customer ReviewsThere is a little bit of Indiana Jones in all of us! - By: C. Clayton, 23 Aug 2008![]() The reason that these movies are so popular is because there is a little bit of Indiana Jonesin all of us. We enjoy the mystery of cloak & dagger, the excitement of exploring new places, the fun of discovery & the adventurous spirit that is deep rootedin all of us. George Lucas & Stephen Spielberg were able to tap into their own psyche as boys & have done an exceptional job of bringing our dreams to lifein the form of a character appropriately named...Indiana Jones! Harrison Ford is an exceptional actor who brings to the screen exactly the right mix of excitement, entertainment, fun & spiced with a bit of tongue & cheek. The majority of the supporting actorsin these series are no slouches either. Karen Allen is the love interest with a bit of an edgein the first movie. Ke Huy Quan is a spunky kidin the second film along with Kate Capshaw as the frightened blonde. In the third movie we get Sean Connery as the tough but loving father. Although the second film Temple of Doom doesn't quite come up to par (a bit darker than the first & third films...and now the fourth), but it still has some redeeming fun & entertaining scenes. No one can get it right 100% of the time, & George Lucas & Steven Spielberg are no different With an encyclopedic knowledge about archeology Dr. Jones is always being chosen to find some important artifact as Indiana Jones. In the first movie it is the Ark of the Covenant. In the second he searches for a famous stone full of diamonds & magical powers. Andin the third movie Indiana Jones seeks the Holy Grail. The extras are enjoyable as Harrison Ford struggles to learn what made Indiana the man he is to act the part properly. There are also some amazing back stage scenes. For example, there is a scene where Indy's hat keeps falling off during a horse chase scene & he does something very unique to keep it on...lets just say he comes up with an interesting solution using a staple gun. Great boxed set! The Re-Discovery of Common Sense: A Guide To: The Lost Art of Critical Thinking love them - By: mummy spoon, 15 Aug 2008 ![]() I never watched these as a child as i thought they were boys films but since i now have two sons i decided at the age of 26, i should give them a go & i am so glad i did, I loved all 3 of the films despite many people telling me not to bother with the temple of doom, whichin fact was my favourite but a little to dark for my boys. These films have to be the best action adventure films of all time, films which anyone, girls or boys of any age can enjoy. As for this particular boxset, its a good price & has loads of special features, despite what some of the other reviews say, this boxset is a must for everyone Good material, but wrong language details - By: charlotte, 21 Jun 2008 ![]() Why do they get it wrong so often: Bought it, because it promised German soundtrack, the print on the DVD itself (Temple of Doom) show all the age limits: English, Irish, German, Spanish & a RED ONE (Italian ?), returned it - of course Still no DTS? - By: ZUMA70, 17 Jun 2008 ![]() Why on earth does neither this trilogy or the Star Wars one (even the newer ones come to think of it) have DTS soundtracks when that technology was helped into development by Spielberg & Lucas? After all Spielberg's Duel & Jaws have that on the DVD so it can't be a case of not being able to retrofit it to an older movie. Mhhm? Still 3 x Great Films - But Pointless IF You Bought The 4 Disc Set Already... - By: Adam Jackson, 27 May 2008 ![]() The original trilogy all togetherin a new box set - however MINUS the 4th, stand alone, special features Bonus DVD! Basically, the special features are spread out over the 3 discs this time & don't appear to add anything really new. I have the (2003) 4 disc set & if you already have that, there looks little reason to buy this (the films are not any longer & do not have any extra scenes etc). The packaging is really good on the 4 disc edition & is much better than when I looked at this set the other dayin Tesco! If you own neither box set, my advice may be to hunt for the 4 discs.... 3 x Great movies; Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1981) - still the best! Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom (1984) - dark & moody! & Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade (1989) - closerin tone to the first film but perhaps slightly too comedic?? Great plots, memorable characters, fantastic action setpieces (some of the very best gun fights, fist fights & car chases ever filmed), stunning locations, stunning cinematography/editing & some truly awesome visual effects ( All 3 movies have supernatural elements, most prevalentin Raiders Of The Lost Ark). Also a stunning set of scores by genius film composer, John Williams (Star Wars, Jaws, CE3K). And all this under the masterful direction of a Spielberg firing on ALL cylinders, & with a career defining performance from Harrison Ford that makes for one of the most engaging heroic characters ever created! These are perfect films for all generations, although it should be pointed out that Raiders & Temple Of Doom are quite bloodyin places, with some farly violent scenes - for all the old fashioned feel, there's no shortage of blood & bullets at times! Absoluteley no sexual content or any bad language whatsoever, so safe for the grandkids (who all love a bit of blood & guts!) I've reviewed the new movie & I thought it was good, better than I expected! 5 STARS ARE FOR THE MOVIES THEMSELVES - up to you, if you want the 3 discs or 4.....
