IT'S JAY BRANNAN! - By: Carl Wheller, 15 Oct 2008
I thought I am going to regret this after seeing the two reviews here but it is not that bad, really. Jay Brannan looks pretty d**n hot too
A challenging film with a big heart and JAY BRANNAN! - By: S. Savory, 13 Oct 2008
Looking at some of the other reviews I can understand why 'Holding Trevor' might not be to everyone's tastes, however it deals with issues such as drug abuse, HIV & heartbreak, so if you're looking for something along the lines of 'Another Gay Movie' you wont find it here! That said, there is a good balance of wonderfully uplifting & sexy moments, mostly surrounding Trevor & new boyrfriend Ephram who comes on the scene about twenty minutes into the film. He's the dishy doctor who is the perfect antidote to Trevor's sad predicament (his ex is a junkie). You also have Jay Brannan, a huge plus & great actor, who has all the best & funniest lines. He even strums the occasional touching tune on his guitar. This film has a lot of fans, & it is easy to see why. It never trots the line, & is ultimately bittersweet & more rootedin real life scenarios than most other gay films.
POOR VERY VERY POOR - By: lee kaay, 07 Oct 2008
Promising storyline ruined by seriously improvised bad acting & bad direction. The trailer was good but this film was so bad & even the ending was predictable. Poor. Avoid.
Too slow - By: Llama, 27 Sep 2008
A promising themes & subject, but so slowin coming together. The "catty" friend, Jake is a very annoying friend, who appeals to all things stereotype, who I think isin the film to do nothing more than add a song, which ended up being very self indulgent; both of the director & the actor's ego!!
The central friendship between Jake, Trevor & Andie had no chemistry or feeling & I just couldn't believe that they were close friends at all.
Allin all, a bit whiny & slow. I'm writing this review while there is still 10 minutes of the film left - a poor sign...
