Refreshingly normal & devoid of any "Tragic Gay" storyline - By: Brent McTavish, 10 Nov 2008
This film has been resonating with me days after watching it... not because it is the best film ever, but because it touched me deeply by the subtle way that it normalises the coming out experience & the subsequent gay relationships that can happen afterwards.

It was just so, so refreshing to witness on screen the unfolding lives, with no apologies & no judgements... & no funny camp fall guy to getin the way of the true story.

More Gay cinema like this... please!

My only criticism really would be that it ended with a little too much over sentimentality... but hey that's Hollywood for you.

Buy it, rent it, see it.

Lack of passion - By: R. Abrantes, 26 Oct 2008
The movie is very good & well produced but because neither actors are gayin real life, it really shows especiallyin intimacy. There is a lack of emotional engagement throughout the movie which gives you the feeling there is something missing. For example, the kissing is just hilarious it looks like they are kissing their grandmother lol. It's a shame cause the movie is above average.
A diamond in the rough - By: H. R. Trigg, 28 Sep 2008
As a gay man, I am have seen many, many gay films, most of which are to be honest, pretty awful. This however, is a splendid, unpatronising, uplifting & heartwarming film, that is setin the masculine world of surfing. There are no camp men, no limp wrists, no drag queens, no drugs, just a wonderful story about 2 ordinary men (1 of whom is having difficulty with his being gay) fallingin love. The secondary characters are also great; the supportive brother & best friend, & the selfish, & on first glance homophobic sister all helping to make this a great gay film. I put this up there with Latter Days & Brokeback Mountain; definately one of my top gay films of all time. It's well acted, well cast, well written & well directed. It also has a great, chilled out soundtrack which is worthy of mention. Kudos to all involved. A true diamondin the rough.
Simply Stunning - By: James McMillan, 05 Sep 2008
What a great movie, loved it to bits. All the cast were excellent & the scenes played out really well. Definitely give this one a go.
Beautiful - By: sugarray, 27 Aug 2008
I've been waiting for this film to be released on DVDin the UK ever since it was recommended to me by friendsin the US. I've watched it several times online & it's already become one of my favourites. It's a beautifully written universal story about choosing between the obligations of your family & following your heart, backed up by great acting, stunning scenery & a gorgeous soundtrack (Shane Mack is definitely a name to watch for the future). An instant classic.
