After hearing that Disney was going to release a third Little Mermaid I was partially excited but also was rather sceptical about whether it was going to be as poor as the second one.
The trailer for the movie was rather disappointing & did not do justice to the actual movie. Now after purchasing the film I would strongly recommend the film. With original new songs & an amazing storyling Ariel's Beginning is a welcome addition. And as Sebastian says there really is more to this story than meets the eye.

Being a huge fan of Disney & The Little Mermaid, I guess you could say I was expecting to be disappointed, because tLM 1 is hard to top. Also, Disney sequels have all had considerably lower standards than the originals (with the exception of The Lion King 2, which is great).

What surprised me was that tLM 3 was a lot better than any of the other sequels I have seen from Disney lately! The plot is alright, but what I really liked, was theme. The film focuses a lot on the loss of a loved one, & how much it hurts even years after. I thought it was beautifully done.

There is a lot of "sequel" traits to the film, one of them being that the animation is very mediocre, it lacks detail & nuances. It might have something to do with the backgrounds too, I feel they are a lot more boring than what is strictly necessary, even if the landscape is supposed to be barren. Also, some of the characters are quite overdone, but the way King Triton is portrayed makes up for it.

The music is quite mediocre too, the songs are not particularly rememberable, though well sung & played. This is where I feel the film falls truly short, being that is focuses so much on the importance of music! I feel there could have been more focus on the quality of the actual melodies of the compositions.

This film is worth buying, it is an alright, nice film. It just didn't end up as brilliant as I feel it could have!

The Amazon review is totally wrong this film is set many years before The Little Mermaid & gives you insight into the life of Ariel's Kingdom.

This isn't really The Little Mermaid 3 but number one & is more a pre-sequel than a sequel.

This film blends all fun & music that made the first a huge hit the songs are brand new but super.

Disney have delivered another great musical cartoon if enjoyed the other Little Mermaid films or TV series then this is for you all three films can bought as a gift set for Chirstmas & if needed before then the new 5 pound supersaver deal this does exceed & more than meet that price.

This is must for Little Mermaid fans & Disney fans so if you like great animation & great toe-tapping songs buy this & get both.

This film is awsome! It really does make the little mermaid trilogy complete. Finding out about ariels mother n about family life that you dont get to know aboutin the first movie. This film is a lot better than the second film they created with melody (ariels daughter) the animation was rushed & story didnt seem to be as thought out as the other two. So it was nice to watch the final film as it should be. If your fans of the little mermaid then you defo need to buy this film! I grew up with ariel since I was 3 & now being 21 I still luv to watch them over & over again! :)

I enjoyed the DVD & seeing Ariel & her sisters. You see more of Ariel & her sisters & you also see them living a normal life geting up out of their beds & going walking with their father. We see Ariel's mother & she is the spiting image of Ariel but gets crushed by a ship & King Triton turns into an underwater Scrooge banning music from the kingdom. What is sad though is King Triton making his daughters do chores & the worst one of all is cleaning Barnicles which poor Ariel has been made do because she tickles her sister with seeweed. She also meets her fish friend Flounder. I bought the American version because it has a longer run time of 77 mins & the UK one has 67 mins.

I give the DVD 5 stars!
