Brilliant Movie; Blu-Ray in Variable Aspect Ratio - By: Francisco Neves, 29 Nov 2008
The movie is great, but this blu-ray comesin a variable aspect ratio, from 2:35:1 to 1:85:1, alternating from thatre & Imax versions...Well, for most people it may look nice, but i didn't like the effect on my 52 inch screen. In wide shots we have a 1:85 aspect ratio & the rest we have the cinemascope effect, so basicaly you see the movie alternating with the black bars & full screen. It looks weird for such a good movie
Amazing - By: D. Walsh, 29 Nov 2008
I could not wait for this film to come outin the uk so got it 2weeks early by purchasing the region free usa disc. That is a 3 disc version with the 3rd disc being an SD Digital copy for use on ipods or other media devices.
The quality of the transfer is amazing,in paticular the full screen scenes shot using IMAX cameras, the level on detail when viewing them on a 1080p display is unbelievable.
The film itself is obviously amazing, yes it's long but it's a great script with great a cast & Ledger totally shines as the Joker.
Overall an amazing film & an amazing transfer to blu ray, definatley a disc to demo to anyone still stuck with bog standard dvd.
Buy it!!

More the Joker's story then Batmans. - By: Mr. G. Bridgeman-clarke, 28 Oct 2008
Could the movie live up to the hype? Most definitely. Buy this film if only to see Heath Ledger's portrayal of Batman's arch-enemy the Joker. His performance is worth the cost of the blu-ray alone. I always though that Jack Nicholson's performance would set the standard, but Heath Ledger's Joker knocks that into a hat.
This is a continuance of the Dark Knight created originally by Bob Kane & later re-invented by Frank Miller. Batman ain't Mr NIce Guy & nor should he be. In fact Batman comes across as harder & possibly mentally unstable but then again to wear latex & a cape you have to be a bit mad.
If I found one faultin the film, it would be that it is too long. I would have rather this had been extended & madein too parts like Kill Bill. That worked so well & I am sure this would have been just as good & a continuing legacy to Heath Ledgers best performance.
A film that lives up to the hype - By: chuckles, 23 Oct 2008
Firstly, this film as the title suggests is one of the few to live up to the hype since the Lord of the Rings. The acting was amazing, the effects were superb, & somehow although this is a superhero, it is done so well that you could imagine Batman & his enemies are real unlike the original movies where they are very comic book. For instance, compare the Joker against the 1989 movie. Both excellentin their own right, but the phsycotic Ledger is much more real than the comic book villain of Nicholson. The same can be said of Gotham itself & Gordon. My only (small) criticism of this movie was the length & number of bad guys. I think that it could maybe have been split into 2 movies, 1 bad guyin each. Doesn't stop it from being a 5 star movie for me!
