A Bitter/Sweet Biopic - By: Mr. S. Briggs, 06 Jun 2010
Sean Penn plays the part of Harvey Milk, battling for Gay Rights he became the Supervisor for San Francisco (which is very similar to a Town Mayor). The only real thing that Milk was aiming for was a just society where LGBT (lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual & Transgendered) people had equal rights.
It seems wrong to write so little but the main message I want to get across is watch it! I had never heard of Harvey Milk until this but he was a truly inspirational man who changed the lives of so many. It is a film really worth watching.

Milk - By: TheGerbilTamer, 13 Mar 2010
Apart from the Oscar buzz surrounding this film I wasn't really aware of the life & career of Harvey Milk prior to watching this film. It's an incredibly well-made biopic by indie director Gus Van Sant & Sean Penn's central performance certainly was worthy of the Oscar he won. The thing which really stood out for me was the wayin which Van Sant made the film look as though it was actually taken from the 1970s as it had a convincing grainy quality & faded colour worthy of the decade.
As well as charting Milk's rise to power & his eventual assassination it also questions the nature of prejudicein the US. It's a film which will make you think deeply about a whole range of issues. A great film, brilliantly acted by all of the cast members & well worth a watch.
Sad, moving and uplifting - By: William Cohen, 05 Mar 2010
I saw the documentary film of the story of Harvey Milk, so I was familiar with all the details. This may have taken away some of the impact. It's poignant & painful tale. Since my gripe against the Conservative Party is that they never want to recruit new members, I was impressed by Harvey's panache. He's my idea of a perfect politician, groundedin the community. Though I can see how he got caught by the dark side of it, too (broken relationships, no money, workaholism).
Sean Penn is brilliant. The best tribute you can make to true revolutionary.
